Donald Trump lashed out on Saturday following a New York Times report that the FBI had opened a probe in 2017 to determine if the president had been working, knowingly or unknowingly, on behalf of Russia. In a series of early-morning tweets Trump said that the agency had opened a probe “for no reason and with no proof, after I fired Lyin’ James Comey, a total sleaze.” He termed former leaders of the agency “corrupt.” Trump went on to describe the Federal Bureau of Investigation as having been “in complete turmoil” under Comey, whom he called a “Crooked Cop.” Tweeting in response, Comey quoted former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt: “I ask you to judge me by the enemies I have made.” The president on Saturday also slammed familiar targets including Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who’s investigating possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and Democrat … [Read more...] about Trump Lashes Out at FBI After NY Times Report on Russian Probe

It was a different collision from the Army mishap, and Lithuanian news media quickly denounced the blog post as fake, designed to turn public opinion against the Americans and their Baltic ally. The bloggers had borrowed a page from the playbook of Russia’s so-called hybrid warfare, which American and Lithuania officials say has … [Read more...] about In Eastern Europe, Militaries Gird Against Russian Might and Manipulation
Giuliani wants Mueller’s ‘almost illegal and unethical probe’ to be investigated
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani thinks that the ongoing probe into Russian interference with the 2016 U.S. elections and potential links between Donald Trump’s campaign and Moscow should itself be investigated.Giuliani, who joined President Trump’s legal team in April, told CNN’s “State of the Union” that former FBI Director Robert Mueller did not necessarily do anything wrong but that the probe he leads has become unethical and possibly illegal — calling for an investigation into its origins.“I believe that the Mueller investigation should be investigated, not because necessarily of Mueller, but because of its genesis in this very, very now completely almost illegal and unethical probe, this Russian probe, that began with Peter Strzok in charge. And he didn’t leave it until July of last year,” Giuliani said in an interview with CNN host Jake Tapper on Sunday.RELATED: All of President Trump's tweets about the Mueller … [Read more...] about Giuliani wants Mueller’s ‘almost illegal and unethical probe’ to be investigated

The president’s assertion, in a morning tweet, is at odds with comments he made in a television interview last year in which he said Comey’s stewardship of the Russia probe was on his mind when he made his decision to dismiss him. “When I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said, ‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should’ve won,’ ” Trump told NBC’s Lester Holt in a May 2017 interview. Before the NBC interview, the White House had said Trump fired Comey at … [Read more...] about Despite his earlier comments, Trump insists Comey not fired over Russian probe
