THE US assets of a Russian oligarch with alleged mob ties have been frozen including his mansion where feds found Roman Abramovich’s ex-wife and his kids. Oleg Deripaska, 50, who is close with Vladimir Putin and President Trump’s ex campaign manager Paul Manafort, has been placed on a sanctions list over his alleged mafia connections - claims he disputes. The saga surrounding the Chelsea owner's attempt to relocate to the country was first reported by the Tribune de Geneve (TdG) newspaper, which claimed Abramovich was turned away after Swiss police claimed he posed a security risk. CAIRO -- Egypt says archaeologists have discovered a "massive" ancient building in the town of Mit Rahina, located 12 miles south of Cairo. The Antiquities Ministry said Tuesday that archaeologists also uncovered an attached building that includes a large Roman bath and a chamber likely for religious rituals. Mostafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said the building is likely part of the residential block of the area, which was the ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis. Memphis, founded around 3,100 B.C., was home to Menes, the king who united Upper and Lower Egypt. ROMAN ABRAMOVICH has been forced to deny allegations of money laundering and links to organised crime, following reports in Switzerland. Chelsea's billionaire owner, 51, spent two years trying to get clearance to to set up home in the European country only to have it rejected because Swiss Police considered him "a danger to the public", according to the reports. The claims emerged in Swiss publication 24heures and suggest the country's Federal Office of Police intervened to block Abramovich's visa application over suspicions of criminal activity. It is claimed that Fedpol would view his residency as be a danger to the Swiss public and the country's reputation, amid suspicions he had contacts in criminal organisations and had been involved in money laundering. Fedpol has been contacted for a statement and the force have not revealed the basis for their alleged position, making it impossible to verify the claims.
