Not all Refugees Treated Fairly in Europe, Plight of Roma People Show
As soon as the war on Ukraine was declared, a refugee crisis unfolded in Europe within days. Countries bordering Ukraine flung open their borders to Ukrainian women, children and elderlies and some nations even took measures to accommodate Ukrainian refugees inside their homes. At the beginning of the war, there were reports of racism at the border checkpoints. Some Indian students said that they too were subjected along with Black, Chinese and other students to racism by the border guards of those nations. There is now another casualty amid this crisis: Europe’s Roma people. They are not to be confused with Romanians who originate from the Roman and Dacian peoples. These groups did not stop there. They … [Read more...] about Not all Refugees Treated Fairly in Europe, Plight of Roma People Show
Soccer roundup: Tempers flare in Tottenham-Chelsea tie
Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel were both sent off after clashing following the final whistle of a feisty 2-2 draw between Chelsea and Tottenham featuring an equalizer in the sixth minute of stoppage time by Spurs striker Harry Kane on Sunday at London’s Stamford Bridge. As they shook hands on the field, Tuchel seemed to not let go of his grip and intimated that Conte look him in the eyes. Pushing and shoving ensued, just as there had been between the two English Premier League managers in the technical area during the match. They were then shown red cards. Conte celebrated Tottenham’s first equalizer, by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the 68th minute, by barging into the chest of Tuchel, sparking a melee among the two sets of coaching staff. Then, after Reece James put Chelsea back in front in the 77th minute, Tuchel set off on a sprint past Conte and down the touchline, clenching his fist in pure delight. Kane’s goal came in the sixth of seven added-on minutes, the striker … [Read more...] about Soccer roundup: Tempers flare in Tottenham-Chelsea tie
McDonald’s Cuts McPlant Burger from Menu After Trial Run
Fast-food company McDonald’s has decided following a trial run that it will pull the McPlant from the menu of some of its U.S. eateries for the time being, Fox 9 reported on August 1. The McPlant is a plant-based burger codeveloped with the company Beyond Meat, according to the McDonald’s website. “It’s sizzled on a flat iron grill, then topped with slivered onions, tangy pickles, crisp shredded lettuce, Roma tomato slices, ketchup, mustard, mayo and a slice of melty American cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun. There are 510 calories in the McPlant,” the site read. CNBC reported on July 28 that analyst research found “lackluster demand for the meatless burger.” Video footage showed a culinary innovation manager for McDonald’s Canada and a reporter taste-testing the Beyond Meat burger in 2019: The fast-food company confirmed to Fox that the test had concluded, but it did not report or confirm any plans for its restaurants in America. “In October 2021, the … [Read more...] about McDonald’s Cuts McPlant Burger from Menu After Trial Run

Around the World: Tottenham vs Chelsea Headlines EPL Weekend; Real Madrid Open Title Defense at Almería
A look at what’s happening in European football on Sunday: ENGLAND Tottenham are seeking just a second victory at Stamford Bridge since the Premier League started in 1992 when they travel across London to play Chelsea in the headline game of the second round.
