Bryce Dallas Howard lamented about being paid “so much less” than Chris Pratt on the Jurassic World sequels and how he advocated for pay equity. Speaking with Insider , the daughter of director Ron Howard did not reveal the exact dollar amount she received versus Pratt (initial reports said $8 million and $10 million, respectively), but said the actor helped to negotiate pay equity on the Jurassic World ancillary materials. “The reports were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less,” Howard said. “When I started negotiating for ‘Jurassic,’ it was 2014 and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage. And, unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies and so your deals are set.” “What I will say is that Chris and I have discussed it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn’t been already negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me, ‘You guys don’t even have … [Read more...] about Feminism Fail: Knight in Shining Armor Chris Pratt Negotiated Extra ‘Jurassic World’ Pay for Damsel in Distress Bryce Dallas Howard

Georgia governor touts Bulldogs 4-peat for Atlanta in 2025
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 8 ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia's governor has high hopes for his alma mater. With Atlanta set to become the first two-time host of college football's national championship game in 2025, Brian Kemp sees no reason the Georgia Bulldogs can't be going for their fourth straight title that year — while taking a jab at Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. “As y'all know, Georgia won the national championship last year,” Kemp, a Republican, said at the announcement Tuesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. “I believe they're going to repeat this year. Then win the next year. And them we'll see them win their fourth in a row, mayor, in this game.” Dickens, a Democrat and an alumnus of rival Georgia Tech, then proposed a scenario that might be even more far-fetched than Georgia's four-peat. “I'm with the governor,” the mayor jokingly shot back. “We can get Georgia back to back to … [Read more...] about Georgia governor touts Bulldogs 4-peat for Atlanta in 2025
Students and activists mobilize on campus for reproductive rights in states with abortion bans
College students and advocates returning to campus for the first post-Roe school year already are making plans for a counterattack in states where abortion has been banned or severely restricted. They're gearing up with emergency contraceptives , condoms, pregnancy tests, voter registration drives and — where possible — information about abortion access in response to the rollback of the constitutional right to the procedure. “We have to do what we can legally to help people as much as we can,” Nikita Kakkad, a junior at the University of Texas at Austin and an activist for reproductive rights, said. “It’s important to be doing that now more than ever.” Texas is one of more than a dozen states that has banned or severely restricted abortion procedures after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June. The state had already passed a law in 2021 that effectively banned abortions around six weeks of pregnancy, and its "trigger law" prohibiting nearly all abortions and … [Read more...] about Students and activists mobilize on campus for reproductive rights in states with abortion bans
Florida court says teen is not ‘mature’ enough to have an abortion
A pregnant and parentless 16-year-old in Florida may be forced to give birth after an appeals court ruled she was not “sufficiently mature to decide whether to terminate her pregnancy.” The teenager, who is identified in court papers as Jane Doe 22-B, was appealing a decision by Circuit Judge Jennifer Frydrychowicz on Aug. 10 that blocked her from having an abortion without the consent of a parent or guardian, as required by Florida law. At the time, the teenager was 10 weeks pregnant, the court papers state. But the three-judge panel of the state's 1st District Court of Appeal, which covers northern Florida, sided Monday, for the most part, with Frydrychowicz. The teenager "had not established by clear and convincing evidence that she was sufficiently mature to decide whether to terminate her pregnancy,” the ruling by Judges Harvey Jay, Rachel Nordby and Scott Makar, states. “Having reviewed the record, we affirm the trial court’s decision under the deferential … [Read more...] about Florida court says teen is not ‘mature’ enough to have an abortion
