‘My husband is forcing me to uninvite my mum from our baby shower – I’m heartbroken’
Family meals are meant to be fun get-togethers so different generations can enjoy catching up and making plans for the future. One woman's family dinner did not go to plan, however, when all hell broke loose between her husband and her mum because of the husband's behaviour towards a waitress. The unnamed woman from the US took to Reddit's 'Am I The A**hole Forum' to ask whether she was in the wrong because she'd taken her husband's side, rather than her mum's. She wrote: "My mom, sister, and my sister-in-law have all been planning and organising my upcoming baby shower. Pretty much everything is done already and I honestly could not be more grateful to have such a loving bunch in my life caring about me, but here's where things get complicated. "So Thursday night, my parents offered to treat my husband and I to dinner at a new restaurant that opened up in the area. Full disclosure, my husband was in a mood even before we left so I offered to reschedule but he insisted … [Read more...] about ‘My husband is forcing me to uninvite my mum from our baby shower – I’m heartbroken’

Fact Check: Did Trump call Cassidy Hutchinson a “terrible employee”?
Bombshell claims about Donald Trump 's behavior in the lead-up to the January 6 U.S. Capitol riots have captured the nation's attention, with suggestions by former staff that matters may yet worsen for the former president. In the past week, Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, has made a number of startling allegations in her testimony to the January 6 committee, including that the former president lunged at a Secret Service agent's throat and grabbed the steering wheel of the presidential limousine in an attempt to join his supporters at the Capitol. Trump has roundly denied the allegations in a series of statements against the Select Committee hearings. However, the tone and frequency of these, coupled with the prominence and significance of Hutchinson's claims, have made him vulnerable to copycat statements, as Newsweek has discovered. The Claim A statement purportedly published by Donald Trump, dated June 28, 2022, was … [Read more...] about Fact Check: Did Trump call Cassidy Hutchinson a “terrible employee”?

Donald Trump rails against Pat Cipollone subpoena: “Dangerous Precedent”
Donald Trump has hit at the January 6 House Select Committee subpoenaing Pat Cipollone, suggesting trying to interview White House counsel for "dirt" will "set a terrible precedent." Trump was reacting to the news that the panel has subpoenaed Cipollone following damning testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson on Tuesday. Hutchinson, a former top aide to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, told the panel that Cipollone was concerned Trump would face criminal charges if he joined his supporters in marching to the Capitol on January 6. "Mr. Cipollone said something to the effect of 'please make sure that we don't go up to the Capitol, Cassidy, keep in touch with me,'" Hutchinson testified. "We're going to get charged with every crime imaginable if we make that movement happen." Writing on Truth Social, Trump hit out at the panel for subpoenaing the White House lawyer to give evidence while continuing his attacks on Hutchinson about the bombshell allegations she made under … [Read more...] about Donald Trump rails against Pat Cipollone subpoena: “Dangerous Precedent”

Sri Lanka makes progress towards IMF credit – IMF
COLOMBO (Reuters) -The International Monetary Fund reported constructive talks with Sri Lankan authorities on Thursday, raising hopes it could soon grant preliminary approval for a credit facility to alleviate a crisis in which the country is struggling to pay for imports. "The discussions will continue virtually with a view to reaching a staff-level agreement on the EFF arrangement in the near term," IMF said, referring to the credit arrangement, called an extended fund facility. Staff-level agreement must precede final approval by the IMF's executive board, but so too must cooperation from Sri Lanka's creditors, which is not expected to come quickly. "Because public debt is assessed as unsustainable, Executive Board approval would require adequate financing assurances from Sri Lanka's creditors that debt sustainability will be restored," the IMF said. Analysts say debt restructuring would be a protracted process, even after IMF staff-level agreement. The financial crisis is … [Read more...] about Sri Lanka makes progress towards IMF credit – IMF
