Experts have predicted that an " extreme heat belt " will settle over the U.S. by the middle of this century. Nonprofit group First Street Foundation has modeled how the intensity of heatwaves will change across the country over the coming years. Key findings from its report indicate that millions of people will be affected by extreme heat in the next few decades, and these effects will be worse in the landlocked states. The "extreme heat belt", as dubbed by the researchers, will span 13 states across the South and Midwest , from parts of Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana through Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Iowa, Indiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky and Illinois, and the borders of Nebraska. Other states affected outside of this cluster will be California, Arizona, Nevada, as well as Florida and the Carolinas on the East Coast. In 2023, the model finds that 50 counties, home to over 8 million people, will experience temperatures over 125F, which is the highest level of … [Read more...] about The 13 states to fall into U.S. extreme heat belt in next 30 years

‘Cause and no effect as Labour forgets lesson of last 30 years by getting tough on crime’
Now I’m not one to bemoan anyone else’s work, particularly at this time of year when your mind is drifting to holidays and there are French Martinis to be drunk. But there was news put out by Labour that was really bad. It was a press release about the country being ravaged by fire and had some really scary stats – 440 wildfires so far this year, 21% of firefighters cut since 2010, and exceptional levels of risk. It’s a serious matter, covering a range of issues from climate change to austerity. But then came a quote from Shadow Paymaster General Fleur Anderson who said: “Conservative ministers have put the smoke alarm on snooze for far too long.” Discuss causes of crime .. discuss Now maybe I’ve missed something here, and if I have I will apologise unreservedly, but do smoke alarms really have snooze buttons? I mean, why would a smoke alarm have a snooze button? Pointless, right? In fact, beyond pointless. Who would be alerted to a fire and then go, “You know … [Read more...] about ‘Cause and no effect as Labour forgets lesson of last 30 years by getting tough on crime’
Home Depot posts record profit, revenue; sticks to outlook
Home Depot is seeing sustained demand for goods related to home improvement projects despite soaring prices and mortgage rates for homes. Despite record profit and revenue, the Atlanta home improvement chain maintained its guidance for the year. Revenue for the three months ended July 31 rose 6.5% to $43.79 billion, which topped projections of $43.35 billion on Wall Street, according to a survey by Zacks Investment Research. Sales at stores open at least a year, a key indicator of a retailer's health, climbed 5.8%, and 5.4% in the U.S. While the number of customer transactions fell 3%, the amount shoppers spent per transaction rose 9.1%. Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData, said Tuesday that there was some inflation baked into the numbers. “This is one of the reasons why Home Depot’s average ticket has risen by 9.1% over the prior year," Saunders wrote. "While inflation does not account for all the gains, it has flattered Home Depot’s numbers." Saunders … [Read more...] about Home Depot posts record profit, revenue; sticks to outlook

Joe Biden’s 2022 Migrant Flood Breaks Records
Another 199,976 economic migrants arrived at the southern border in July, ensuring President Joe Biden’s 2022 migration exceeds the total 2021 numbers, even though August and September numbers have yet to be added. The government tracks the migrant arrival and inflow data by its “Fiscal Year” calendar, which starts October 1 and ends September 30. The total 2022 number will be known once the August and September numbers are counted. In all 12 months of fiscal 2021, officials counted 1,734,686 migrants at the border and allowed 671,160 into the United States via various border-law loopholes. But in the first 10 months of fiscal 2022, border officials have counted 1,946,780 migrants at the border and allowed 1,012,378 economic migrants to seek homes and jobs throughout the United States. This July, Biden’s deputies admitted 125,403 of the 199,976 arriving migrants. The 2022 admission numbers show a 50 percent jump over 2021, with two months to go. The numbers are flawed. … [Read more...] about Joe Biden’s 2022 Migrant Flood Breaks Records

Mets starter Carlos Carrasco to miss next three to four weeks with low-grade oblique strain
Mets starter Carlos Carrasco was placed on the 15-day IL due to a low-grade strain in his left oblique. The Mets estimate his recovery timetable to be about three to four weeks. “Carlos got the test back, it’s actually pretty good news,” Buck Showalter offered optimistically. “Grade 1 (strain), that’s good news. We thought it could have been something a little deeper. We hope it’s not as long as some of those things take, we’ll see.” Carrasco left Monday’s game after two innings, which were interrupted by a rain delay. On his way into the tunnel after the second, he could be seen grabbing at his oblique. “I actually look at it as, maybe, an opportunity to freshen him up arm-wise,” Showalter said. “I think he’s exceeded the things that we thought he might do.” Stephen Nogosek was brought up from Syracuse to replace Carrasco. Nogosek has pitched in nine games for the Mets this season with a 2.30 ERA. Additionally, the Mets made a right-handed reliever swap. Adonis Medina was … [Read more...] about Mets starter Carlos Carrasco to miss next three to four weeks with low-grade oblique strain
Woke Fail: CW Network Admits It’s ‘Not Profitable,’ Now the Lowest-Rated Broadcast Network
The CW Network has been known for woke scripted programing but with its recent sale, executives are admitting that its lowest-rated status is because its average viewers just aren’t interested in its shows. CW has been known for many young adult-oriented series such as Riverdale , Charmed , and All American , as well as shows based on DC comic book characters including Arrow , Supergirl , and The Flash . Nearly every series that CW has produced over the last decade has been chock full of “representation” of the radical LGBTQ and transgender agenda, attacks on Republicans and Donald Trump, and general support for the far-left political agenda. Supergirl , for instance, added a transgender character as a principal in 2018, and featured anti-conservative and anti-Trump content. But Supergirl was far from the only series to push woke topics. Its teen witch series, Charmed , heavily pushed lesbianism and constantly featured anti-male sentiment, and each of its … [Read more...] about Woke Fail: CW Network Admits It’s ‘Not Profitable,’ Now the Lowest-Rated Broadcast Network
