Maharashtra government has informed the Bombay High Court that an advocate general will be appointed under Article 165 of the constitution by the end of December. An affidavit was filed by the government pleader on behalf of the state government. Previously the court had asked the state to file a reply in the writ petition that seeks appointment of an AG.The bench of Justices AS Oka and Anuja Prabhudessai is hearing a petition filed by a Member of the Legislative Council, Sanjay Satishchandra Dutt. In his petition Dutt has sought a writ of mandamus directing the Maharashtra government to appoint an Advocate General under Article 165 of the constitution. Till date, India has signed Extradition Treaties with 42 countries. India also has Extradition Arrangements with 9 more countries. A list of these countries is attached at Annexure-A. It is the policy of the Government of India to conclude Extradition treaties with as many countries as possible so as to ensure that fugitive criminals do not escape justice. Applications are invited for the LDP which will be conducted from June to December 2018. Although road traffic injuries have been a leading cause of mortality for many years, most traffic crashes are both predictable and preventable. Lawxy aims to implement some of these proven measures in India. Rolling out these interventions in India will offer huge potential to mitigate future damage and save lives. About the LDP Project: To combat the ever-growing menace of traffic accidents, WHO has launched LDP in India in 2017. Lawxy implemented it last year and is continuing to partner with WHO in 2018.
