Trump ‘morally unfit to be president,’ Comey says in TV interview

· April 16, 2018 ·

Comey also spoke at length about what he characterized as his "no-win situation" in his deliberations over whether to announce publicly, less than two weeks before the presidential election, that the FBI was looking into more emails connected to its investigation of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server when she was secretary of state. Comey wrote in "A Higher Loyalty" that he assumed Clinton would win — as virtually every major poll suggested — and that he didn't want to tarnish Clinton's presidency as illegitimate if it were to be learned later that the FBI had withheld the information. Former FBI chief Comey says he’s ‘not trying to pick on’ Trump with book blitz

· April 18, 2018 ·

“I’m not trying to pick on President Trump,” Comey added. Tune in: James Comey joins Rachel Maddow live in-studio Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on MSNBC When asked by “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, “Did you stoop,” in appearing to insult Trump about some of his personal traits, Comey again dismissed the idea. “I really don't think so, maybe I’m missing it,” he said. He added, “I hope not,” when Guthrie asked him whether he’d “diminished himself.” Moments after the interview aired Wednesday, Trump bashed Comey on Twitter as “slippery” and the “worst FBI Director in history.” Comey has faced criticism for some of the specific and unflattering details he’s used in the book — and during the barrage of media interviews he’s given ahead of and since its release — to describe Trump. He described Trump in the book, titled "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and … [Read more...] about Former FBI chief Comey says he’s ‘not trying to pick on’ Trump with book blitz

Boente was interviewed months ago on several topics, including his recollections of conversations with fired FBI director James Comey about his interactions with Trump, according to the Post’s sources.
