Jeb Bush: ‘Bad Behavior’ in Politics Has Consequences
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says it is time to challenge "bad behavior" in politics — and hold public figures to a higher ethical standard. In remarks Wednesday at Elmhurst College's annual governmental forum in Oak Brook, Illinois, Bush said he felt the "looming presence" of his mother and former first lady Barbara Bush, the Daily Herald reported. The Bush matriarch died Tuesday at 92, and Bush said "she would be very upset" if he reneged on his commitment to speak at the forum on "leadership in a changing world." "Bad behavior and the kind of language that we accept today, or the kind of actions that we find intolerable for someone we don't agree with, should have the exact same response to someone that's on your team," he said, the Daily Herald reported. ". . . Right now, we're so hyper-partisan that if it's a Democrat doing something outrageous, Republicans are just righteously there to attack, but if it's a Republican, you hear nothing and vice versa. Jeb Bush: Time to challenge ‘bad behavior’ in politics
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush opined on a number of issues -- immigration, education, even Illinois' roughly 7,000 units of local government -- during an Elmhurst College forum this week. But he felt the "looming presence" of his mother and former first lady Barbara Bush as he gave his take on a polarized political climate. In the wide-ranging speech to a friendly crowd at an Oak Brook hotel, the 2016 GOP presidential candidate denounced an ugly, vulgar side of politics that would have drawn his mother's ire."The first step is to change the language around political discourse and get back to something that (if) you're at your own kitchen table you could tolerate. (At) least in my kitchen table, I could promise you if I talked like the people I hear on public television today talk, my mother would have gotten her board out and whipped my butt, which she did occasionally," Bush said with a smile. The college asked Bush to discuss "leadership in a changing world" for the school's 11th … [Read more...] about Jeb Bush: Time to challenge ‘bad behavior’ in politics
Trump says it’s a ‘very scary time’ for young men who can be falsely accused of bad behavior
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump on Tuesday lamented what his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is experiencing, saying it reflects a “very scary time” in the country when young men can be falsely accused of bad behavior. “It’s a very scary time for young men in America when you can be guilty of something you may not be guilty of,” Trump told reporters as he departed the White House. “You could be somebody that was perfect your entire life, and somebody could accuse of something. . . . That’s one of the very bad things that’s taking place now.” Trump’s comments come as the FBI conducts a limited investigation of allegations of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh, all of which he has vigorously denied, that are said to have taken place when he was in high school and college. Three women have come forward to accuse Kavanaugh of inappropriate behavior, including Christine Blasey Ford, who testified at a Senate hearing … [Read more...] about Trump says it’s a ‘very scary time’ for young men who can be falsely accused of bad behavior
‘Lethal Weapon’ star responds to report that his ‘bad behavior’ could shut down the show
Emily Yahr, The Washington Post Published 4:02 pm, Tuesday, April 24, 2018 It's that time of year when broadcast networks are deciding which shows to keep and which shows to ax - so actors never want to give executives a reason to lean toward the latter. However, on Monday, Deadline Hollywood reported that Clayne Crawford, one of the stars of Fox buddy cop dramedy "Lethal Weapon," had become such a problem on set that he was "threatening the future of the show" and that a potential recasting of his character was "being explored." "I have learned that Crawford has had a history of bad behavior on the show, and that he has been disciplined several times over complaints of emotional abuse and creating a hostile environment," reporter Nellie Andreeva wrote. "I hear the issue has escalated to a point where other actors as well as crew on 'Lethal Weapon' would feel uncomfortable being on set with him." "Lethal Weapon," which airs Tuesdays and will wrap up its second season May … [Read more...] about ‘Lethal Weapon’ star responds to report that his ‘bad behavior’ could shut down the show
