LONDON (AP) – Britain is ramping up a feud with the European Union by pressing on with a plan to rip up parts of the post-Brexit trade deal it signed with the bloc. Legislation that rewrites trade rules for Northern Ireland is scheduled to get its first major House of Commons debate on Monday, the first step on what could be a rocky journey through Parliament. The legislation, if approved by lawmakers, would remove checks on goods entering Northern Ireland from the rest of the U.K., thereby scrapping parts of a trade treaty that Prime Minister Boris Johnson signed before Britain left the EU in 2020. Rees-Mogg: No More Dancing to EU’s Wishes, Northern Ireland Deal Must Change or Go https://t.co/bR8QisoMgb — Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) May 13, 2022 Johnson said he thought the plan could be approved “fairly rapidly” if Parliament cooperates, and that the measures could become law by the end of the year. “What we are trying to do is fix something that I think is … [Read more...] about Brussels Squals as UK Moves to ‘Fix’ Imbalanced Post-Brexit Status Quo

Ivanka Trump is “unapologetically” against women’s abortion rights
First daughter Ivanka Trump , who serves as an adviser to the president, has revealed that she's against abortion rights for women and "unapologetically" supports the pro-life movement. In a recent interview with RealClearPolitics, published Thursday, Ivanka Trump said she respects "all sides of a very personal and sensitive discussion" when asked about her stance on the contentious matter. "But I am also a mother of three children, and parenthood affected me in a profound way in terms of how I think about these things," she continued. "I am pro-life, and unapologetically so." Ivanka Trump also declared that she's a "Trump-Republican" who considers herself "a pragmatist when it comes to everything." The remarks marked the first time the president's eldest daughter has unequivocally stood against abortion rights. In 2018, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards released a memoir that accused Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner , a senior adviser to President … [Read more...] about Ivanka Trump is “unapologetically” against women’s abortion rights
Planned Parenthood ‘Baby Parts’ Exposé Changes Abortion Debate
The pro-life group Center for Medical Progress (CMP) is releasing a video on the first anniversary of its undercover exposé unmasking Planned Parenthood’s abortion business. The series of videos last summer also exposed Planned Parenthood’s apparent practices of selling the body parts of babies it aborts on the open market and altering the position of babies during abortions in order to harvest their most intact organs. The story of the abortion giant’s alleged practices and those of biomedical procurement company StemExpress went viral last summer with the American public, leading to congressional investigations into Planned Parenthood and the entire abortion industry. The CMP video series changed the national debate about abortion by featuring discussions and negotiations with high-level Planned Parenthood medical directors and executives, who eat lunch and drink wine while haggling over prices for fetal organs. “As more details and evidence continue to emerge in the … [Read more...] about Planned Parenthood ‘Baby Parts’ Exposé Changes Abortion Debate
Donald Trump’s views on abortion and Roe v. Wade in his own words
With less than two months until the election, President Donald Trump has continued to express his views on abortion and the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, during his time in office, as well as before entering the White House. Trump is set to face off against Democratic challenger Joe Biden in the first presidential debate on Tuesday and following Trump's recent nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, abortion and Roe v. Wade are two issues likely to be brought up. Here's what Trump has said about both issues over the years. 1999 Interview on NBC News' Meet the Press "Well, look, I'm very pro-choice," Trump said when asked if he would ban partial-birth abortions as president. "I hate the concept of abortion. I hate it. I hate everything it stands for. I cringe when I listen to people debating the subject. But you still – I just believe in choice. And, again, it may be a little bit of a New York background, because there is some different attitude … [Read more...] about Donald Trump’s views on abortion and Roe v. Wade in his own words
The Epic Back-Scratching Fest Between Blake Master and a Trumpy Billionaire
Arizona Republican Senate candidate Blake Masters has made no secret of his connections to his longtime business partner and biggest political benefactor, billionaire tech investor Peter Thiel. But new reporting shows that Masters can’t seem to quit promoting Thiel businesses on the campaign trail—and that Thiel or Masters can’t seem to stop making questionable in-kind contributions. Masters announced last month that he had left his top positions at two organizations named after Thiel, who has poured more than $10 million of support into the Senate bid. But a Daily Beast review of business, campaign, and tax records reveals that Masters appears still far from severing his shared interests with his mentor. Brendan Fischer, deputy executive director at Documented, told The Daily Beast that the facts demonstrate an inextricable connection. “This further underscores how Masters’ candidacy is almost inseparable from its billionaire backer,” Fischer said. “Thiel helped launch … [Read more...] about The Epic Back-Scratching Fest Between Blake Master and a Trumpy Billionaire
What Ivanka Trump has said about abortion rights
Former President Donald Trump took a victory lap over the weekend and celebrated the Supreme Court 's striking down Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 ruling that provided constitutional protections for abortions. The three justices appointed to the high court in Trump's single term—Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett —were instrumental in the decision to "upend the scales of justice and eliminate a fundamental right for women in this country," President Joe Biden noted in a statement after the decision came down on Friday. Trump, on the other hand, hailed it as "a victory for the Constitution, a victory for the rule of law, and above all, a victory for life." He has long said his elder daughter Ivanka has inspired his views when it comes to women's issues. In an interview in August 2015, he said she was his "guide" on the "whole issue of women's health and women." And Ivanka Trump served as a senior White House advisor while styling herself as a … [Read more...] about What Ivanka Trump has said about abortion rights
Greg Norman ‘surprised’ by Kevin Na’s PGA Tour resignation in favour of LIV Golf Series
Many were surprised to see Kevin Na quit the PGA Tour ahead of joining a Saudi-funded rival competition, and LIV Golf Series CEO Greg Norman was among them. The PGA has been explicit in its intent to sanction accredited players who choose to participate in the 'Saudi Golf League', which is slated to put on eight invitational events this year. The Centurion Club in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, will host the inaugural tournament starting June 9, with a total of 47 players expected to compete . Rather than risk litigation from the PGA Tour, Na recently announced he was 'exercising his right as a free agent' to cut ties with the body. The likes of Dustin Johnson , Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood are also confirmed to feature in the LIV Golf Series but have not quit the PGA Tour. "I'm a bit surprised, actually," said Norman in reaction to Na quitting golf 's established professional league. "The players don't have to resign from the Tour. That was Kevin's decision for … [Read more...] about Greg Norman ‘surprised’ by Kevin Na’s PGA Tour resignation in favour of LIV Golf Series

The G-7 leaders have pledged to continue supporting Ukraine “for as long as it takes.” In a joint statement Monday after a video link session with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the leaders underlined their “unwavering commitment to support the government and people of Ukraine in their courageous defence of their country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” President Joe Biden is set to announce that the U.S. is providing an advanced surface-to-air missile system to Ukraine, as well as additional artillery support Russian forces were fighting on June 27 to achieve one of their strategic objectives in Ukraine as Moscow-backed separatists said they were pushing into Lysychansk, the last major city still held by Ukrainian troops in eastern Luhansk province. This outraged S.F. baker has a message for the Supreme Court — on a cake
Minutes after hearing the historic news that Roe v. Wade had been overturned on Friday, Gillian Shaw baked a cake. The owner of San Francisco’s Black Jet Baking Co. poured her overwhelming frustration and rage into the layered funfetti cake. She decorated it with white frosting and a blunt message for the six U.S. Supreme Court justices who voted to repeal abortion as a constitutional right: “f--- you.” She posted a photo to Instagram of the subversively cute cake, its edges covered in colorful rainbow sprinkles and the justices’ names written in pastel pink, cursive text. The cake and its message resonated. Customers, including from out of state, asked if they could buy one. Shaw decided to sell cakes through this weekend and donate 100% of the proceeds to Planned Parenthood, which is matching donations until June 30. “I feel a bit of a responsibility as an owner, especially when people are upset, to show that we care and we want to do something,” Shaw Lundgren said. “I … [Read more...] about This outraged S.F. baker has a message for the Supreme Court — on a cake
For two California Republicans, diverging approaches to Trump lead to the same place: Backlash
Nearly a month after objecting to electoral votes cast for President Biden, Rep. Mike Garcia wanted to clear the air. In a lengthy Jan. 30 op-ed in a local newspaper, the Santa Clarita Republican and former Navy fighter jet pilot denounced the blowback on social media that branded him “a seditionist, a traitor, or even worse.” Roughly 150 miles to the north, Rep. David Valadao also had some explaining to do after voting to impeach President Trump for his part in inciting the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol. He, like Garcia, was disparaged by some constituents as a traitor. Two votes in Congress in successive weeks — one to certify Biden’s election and another to impeach the president — snared the two California Republicans into the pitched battle over the future of their party: whether the GOP will demand allegiance to Trump or break from his influence. On one side sits Garcia and the majority of House Republicans, who on Jan. 6 aligned with Trump in rejecting the will of the … [Read more...] about For two California Republicans, diverging approaches to Trump lead to the same place: Backlash
