Prince William is seeking to ensure that Prince Andrew steps back completely from his role as a royal in the wake of his ongoing sex scandal, sources say. The Duke of York stepped down from royal duties after the Queen stripped him of his military titles and HRH status in the wake of a sex scandal in January. Andrew denied the allegations against him and he later came to an out of court settlement with his accuser . The settlement is not an admission of guilt. Now, it appears that Prince William is taking more of a leading role in ensuring Prince Andrew stays behind closed doors. Prince William during the Order of the Garter event at Windsor Castle ( Image: PA) One insider told the Daily Mail that William has "strong views" on the Duke of York and believes that "his insistence in trying to cling on to a public role is highly dangerous for the institution". Another source, a friend, added that William "would have cut [Andrew] loose a long time ago if it had … [Read more...] about Prince William wants shamed Andrew to ‘vanish from public view’, claims insider

Queen is determined to keep Prince Andrew around because he is ‘intensely loyal’
Prince Andrew's fall from grace after his involvement in the Jeffery Epstein scandal has been widely publicised - but constant claims that he wants to be rehabilitated back into the royal fold continue to surface. The Queen's ongoing support for The Duke of York has also prompted many people to question why the monarch is still standing by her son's side, seemingly unphased by the troubles he has encountered. It is well-known that Andrew is considered to be Her Majesty's favourite child and still retains that title despite recent events. The reason for their closeness was unpicked when The Mirror's royal podcast, Pod Save the Queen , spoke to the famed biographer, Andrew Morton about his 25th book 'The Queen'. The show's host Zoe Forsey spoke to the author and asked about Her Majesty's unwavering support for her second son and why he thinks Andrew will never lose his mother's confidence. It is widely believed that Prince Andrew is The Queen's favourite child ( … [Read more...] about Queen is determined to keep Prince Andrew around because he is ‘intensely loyal’

How Can Growing American Cities Spread Their Wealth Around?
With most big cities’s economies continuing to grow, the most pressing issue they face is how to connect their low-income communities to the opportunities that growth creates. New efforts developing in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Chicago show the many creative alternatives cities are exploring to respond to that challenge—and the obstacles they face. From 2010 through 2015, all of the 100 largest metropolitan areas added jobs, and 98 of them increased their total economic output, according to calculations by the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program. But in most cities, that revival has largely bypassed communities of concentrated poverty, like large swathes of Chicago’s predominantly African-American South Side or mostly Hispanic East Charlotte. Across the country, many cities have fueled their growth by importing streams of young college graduates from elsewhere, while struggling to place their own low-income kids on a track to obtain the education necessary … [Read more...] about How Can Growing American Cities Spread Their Wealth Around?
How Disney, a new mayor and a secret ‘cabal’ gained power over Anaheim
Inside the 3,000-square-foot suite on the top floor of the Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower, Harry Sidhu beamed as he surveyed the small group of Anaheim business leaders, consultants and politicians celebrating their return to power. Results from a bruising election filled the big-screen television behind the future mayor that night as supporters sipped wine and laughed amid red, white and blue balloons and small American flags. “Anaheim’s future is going to be bright going forward from here,” Sidhu told the group in a video of the event reviewed by The Times. “We are open for business!” Cheers filled the Blue Sky Suite, decorated with Midcentury Modern furniture and vintage renderings of Tomorrowland. Optimism flowed through impromptu speeches by Sidhu and two victorious councilmen like the flood of big-business cash that drove their campaigns. Left unspoken amid the applause, however, was that this November 2018 night also heralded the return of a small, secretive group of … [Read more...] about How Disney, a new mayor and a secret ‘cabal’ gained power over Anaheim
With accounts flush, budget talks come down to schools aid
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — With a week to go until the state's budget deadline, Gov. Tom Wolf and leaders of the Republican-controlled Legislature are working through their remaining differences as they try to produce an agreement on a roughly $42 billion budget plan that they say will marshal substantial new aid for Pennsylvania’s public schools and environmental cleanups while cutting corporate taxes. Greasing the skids this year is a massive influx of tax receipts leaving the state’s bank accounts flush with — by some estimates — $12 billion in reserves and surpluses, boosted by inflation and an economy juiced with federal pandemic subsidies. There will be no broad tax cut, but there will be substantial new aid for public schools, as well as for services for the disabled, children and elderly that employ low-paid workers in high-turnover professions that suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lawmakers are also expected to approve significant sums of new money for mental health … [Read more...] about With accounts flush, budget talks come down to schools aid
