The defence for Tahawwur Rana, co-accused with David Headly in the 26/11 attacks, rested its case here after calling two witnesses but the Pakistani Canadian himself did not testify. At the hearing of the terror trial, the defence said employees at Rana’s Immigration offices in New York or Toronto did not remember working with Headley. The employees -- Rehana and Kashif Khan -- among others, take calls at the offices. The defence called in a computer forensic expert and an immigration attorney but Rana waived his right to testify. Closing arguments by the prosecution and defence are scheduled for Tuesday. Computer forensic expert Yaniv Schiff Moshe said he researched Rana’s computers from July 1, 2009 to October 15, 2009 and found that no search was conducted on them except on one computer for Jyllands Posten cultural editor Fleming Rose or Kurt Westergaard the cartoonist who drew the controversial cartoons of Prophet Muhammad. This one computer was used by Headley himself to … [Read more...] about Rana lawyers give brief defence; trial to see closing arguments

Playful dog halts soccer game after invading pitch for strokes—”Red card”
An international soccer match in Chile took an unexpected turn over the weekend after a pitch invading dog halted play. On Saturday, the Chile women's national soccer team played host to South American rivals Venezuela at the Estadio La Granja, Curicó. A friendly match serving as a warm-up for the Copa América Femenina, the game wasn't exactly action-packed with Chile mustering just one shot on target and Venezuela ultimately triumphing 1-0 thanks to a brilliant Mariana Speckmaier goal eight minutes from time. However, by then, the match's main highlight had already been and gone. That came in the 37th minute when, for reasons still unknown, a dog decided to run onto the pitch. Pitch invaders are nothing new in the world of soccer, but dog interlopers are a little less common. There are myriad reasons why someone may want to enter the field of play. Some do it for attention , others to protest a particular issue. Then are those who simply get carried away by the … [Read more...] about Playful dog halts soccer game after invading pitch for strokes—”Red card”
Webcamming: The sex work revolution that no one is willing to talk about
The development of the internet has completely transformed the way we do business; and the “oldest profession” is no exception. In a world of online chatrooms, webcam performers can market anything from conversation to explicit sex acts. And unlike pornography or prostitution, there are virtually no laws regulating this form of sex work. Webcamming is an easy market to enter. All it takes is a computer, a decent webcam, access to a high-speed internet connection and a webcam hosting site. The hours are flexible, the working environment is safe and the salary can be very rewarding. The majority of performers are women, but there are also male and transgender performers. On sites such as Chaturbate and MyFreeCams, a tipping system operates in public chatrooms. Here, payment is voluntary, and performers are tipped for performing sexual and non-sexual acts. This makes a show profitable for the performer, at a relatively low cost to the viewer. Ireland Baldwin reveals rape, abortion experience in Roe v. Wade reaction
Ireland Baldwin has revealed that she was raped as a teenager, and recounted her experience with abortion in light of the Supreme Court 's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade . The Supreme Court's conservative majority on Friday morning ended nearly five decades of precedent by overturning the judicial body's landmark 1973 decision, which had established a woman's constitutional right to an abortion. The decision could see abortion bans in roughly half of the states in the U.S. Thirteen states, mainly in the South and Midwest, already have laws on the books that ban abortion in the case of Roe being overturned. Soon after the ruling was publicly announced, a host of celebrities, Democrats and abortion rights activists expressed their outrage at the decision , while many others shared personal stories about their own experiences with abortion. Baldwin, 26, counted herself among those recounting deeply personal experiences on Sunday, when she shared a TikTok video in … [Read more...] about Ireland Baldwin reveals rape, abortion experience in Roe v. Watch: Actress Janelle Monae Screams ‘F**k You, Supreme Court’ at BET Awards
The Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade was attacked from all sides at Sunday night’s BET Awards in Los Angeles with Disney’ Lady and the Tramp star Janelle Monae leading the way. Janelle Monae used her opportunity to wish the audience Happy Pride Day and pointed to the LGBTQ representation. “I’d like to give a special, special shoutout to Black women, to Black queer artists, to Black nonbinary artists,” she said. “These artists making art on our own terms, owning our truths and expressing ourselves freely and unapologetically in a world that tries to control and police our bodies, my body, and our decisions, my decision.” She then threw in, “Fuck you, Supreme Court,” holding up a prominent middle finger; the expletive was bleeped but her hand gesture was clearly seen. . @JanelleMonae at #BETAwards : “Fuck you, Supreme Court.” pic.twitter.com/D5V5onpIcC — Gerren Keith Gaynor (@MrGerrenalist) June 27, 2022 “I know we are celebrating us right now, … [Read more...] about Watch: Actress Janelle Monae Screams ‘F**k You, Supreme Court’ at BET Awards
Why is the monkeypox vaccine only being offered to men?
It can take a bit of time to work out which groups of people face the increased risk of contracting a virus. Unlike Coronavirus – which turned out to be especially virulent – the monkeypox virus is proving to be more selective and certainly nowhere near as infectious. When monkeypox emerged in the UK just a few weeks ago, there was barely any mention of which groups were at risk. Partly because we didn’t know – but even when it did become clearer that it was men who have sex with men who were particularly susceptible to contracting the virus, there was a fear that saying this publicly could foster stigma for a group all too familiar with bigotry. But now the UK Heath Security Agency has at last unveiled its strategy to try and mitigate the spread of the monkeypox virus – and its main intervention will be to offer a vaccine to gay and bisexual men. The agency officially acknowledges that rates of transmission are significantly higher in the male gay … [Read more...] about Why is the monkeypox vaccine only being offered to men?
I was a stripper long before OnlyFans. Sex workers today need to be honest about the industry
A few years ago, when I saw a mom of my eight-year-old son’s friend at the grocery store, she asked, “I saw your yoga pose photo on Facebook. You’re so flexible…Were you a dancer?” Shame surged through me — I never know what to say. “Kind of,” I replied, with a shrug. I wanted to answer the question honestly, but correctly. I don’t like to be misleading. Yes, I was a dancer. Just not the kind of dancer she was thinking. She had images in mind of a ballerina in a tutu, but for anybody who knows my past, that’s not the kind of costume I wore. Recommended Why is OnlyFans banning explicit content? As OnlyFans bans ‘sexually-explicit content’, what else is on there? With a ban on explicit content, OnlyFans is setting itself up to fail I never know how someone will react to me having made money by taking my clothes off, so it’s better never to go into the specifics. For two California Republicans, diverging approaches to Trump lead to the same place: Backlash
Nearly a month after objecting to electoral votes cast for President Biden, Rep. Mike Garcia wanted to clear the air. In a lengthy Jan. 30 op-ed in a local newspaper, the Santa Clarita Republican and former Navy fighter jet pilot denounced the blowback on social media that branded him “a seditionist, a traitor, or even worse.” Roughly 150 miles to the north, Rep. David Valadao also had some explaining to do after voting to impeach President Trump for his part in inciting the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol. He, like Garcia, was disparaged by some constituents as a traitor. Two votes in Congress in successive weeks — one to certify Biden’s election and another to impeach the president — snared the two California Republicans into the pitched battle over the future of their party: whether the GOP will demand allegiance to Trump or break from his influence. On one side sits Garcia and the majority of House Republicans, who on Jan. 6 aligned with Trump in rejecting the will of the … [Read more...] about For two California Republicans, diverging approaches to Trump lead to the same place: Backlash
