‘Jan Suraaj’ campaign convenor Prashant Kishor on Thursday sought to puncture his former mentor Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s claims of having given a face-lift to the state’s roads. Kishor, who is touring the state as a spade-work for full-time launch into politics, shared on his Twitter handle an image of a national highway passing through Madhubani district which, he said, reminded him of the “jungle raj of 1990s”. “Nitish ji had recently told officials of road construction department that they must tell the people about the condition of roads in the state”, Kishor tweeted, with barely concealed sarcasm. “Jungle raj of 1990s” was a reference to the husband-wife duo Lalu Prasad and RJD who together ruled Bihar for 15 years until the defeat of their RJD by the NDA headed by Kumar in 2005. Akshay Kumar is undoubtedly one of the biggest Bollywood actors. He has mastered the art of juggling between the movies. As per reports, he has signed Mudassar Aziz’s next directorial film. A close aide to Pinkvilla informed that the 54-year-old actor will be seen in the comic entertainer titled Khel Khel Mein, backed by Bhushan Kumar and Ashwin Varde. A source close to the development informed that Mudassar has been discussing the film with Akshay for a while now. The subject had fallen in the place of an out-and-out comic entertainer. “Akshay too liked the subject and green-lit it. However, the timelines of the shoot are not known yet,” added the source. Drishyam 2 , starring Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, and Tabu will release in theatres on November 18, the makers announced earlier today. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film is a sequel to the 2015 crime-thriller Drishyam , a Hindi remake of the Mohanlal-starrer Malayalam movie of the same name. The original Malayalam movie was released in 2013, while its sequel was released in February last year. The story of the franchise centres on a family of four whose lives turn upside down following an unfortunate incident that happens to their older daughter. Ajay will be seen reprising his role of Vijay Salgoankar in the sequel, which also features Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, and Ishita Dutta. The team will wrap the shoot in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will on Friday chair a high-level review meeting with the core team of experts over increasing cases of COVID-19 in the country, official sources said. India has been witnessing an increase in coronavirus infections over the last couple of weeks. As on date, 10 states — Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal and Gujarat — have over 1,000 active cases. The core team of experts will include AIIMS director Dr Randip Guleria, ICMR Director General Dr Balram Bhargava and NCDC director Sujeet Singh. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary of Department of Biotechnology Rajesh S Gokhale, Secretary in the Department of Pharmaceuticals S Aparna, among others, will also attend the meeting. Rumour has it that Prabhas has hiked his price for his upcoming Adipurush. The film is one of the most anticipated films of the year with the OG pan-India superstar starring alongside Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan. While fans are waiting for the first glimpse of the film, a new report has claimed that the Telugu actor is charging a bomb for his role. Uber on Thursday refuted a report that claimed the ride-hailing major planned to exit the Indian market and held discussions with potential buyers to sell its India business. Bloomberg reported that the US-based company explored selling the India business, but “suspended discussions after tech startup valuations cratered.” In a statement shared with IANS, an Uber spokesperson said the company never explored exiting India — not even for a minute — and the report is “categorically false.” “India is as important to Uber today as it was when we launched nine years ago.
