Police Scottish quiz lecturer over ‘hate speech’ after he posted quotes from TRAINSPOTTING about ‘English w*****s’
COPS quizzed a man over a "hate crime" after he posted quotes from TRAINSPOTTING about "English w*****s". The "storm in a teacup" reaction from the boys in blue happened as the country continues to reel from a horrifying rise in knife crime. James Mooney was bizarrely pulled in for questioning after he wrote the iconic film line on Instagram, in a tongue-in-cheek comment. The film and philosophy lecturer at Edinburgh University wrote the comment after showing the film to a group of students. It said: “Spent this morning telling a group of visiting American students that we don’t *really* hate the English, but that they *are* w*****s. Welcome to Scotland.” Police Scotland confirmed no crime had been committed after the odd probe into the lecturer's use of lines from the famous film. Officers were called to investigate after a complaint was made, and made the shocking decision to record it as a "hate incident". The university insisted the post was simply meant as a joke … [Read more...] about Police Scottish quiz lecturer over ‘hate speech’ after he posted quotes from TRAINSPOTTING about ‘English w*****s’
Bahamas’ count of missing people post-Dorian drops to 1,300
NASSAU (Reuters) – The Bahamian government now believes there are 1,300 people missing after Hurricane Dorian plowed into the islands, a sharp decline from the 2,500 listed on the missing registry a day earlier, a government spokesman said on Thursday. The Bahamas National Emergency Management Agency on Wednesday had warned the larger figure could include people staying at shelters. “The number of people registered missing with the Bahamas government is going down daily,” NEMA spokesman Carl Smith told a news conference. The official death count currently stands at 50 but Bahamian Prime Minister Hubert Minnis on Wednesday warned he expects that to significantly increase. Donald Trump wrote ‘trade is bad’ on G20 speech and aides stole memos from him ‘to protect US’, bombshell Bob Woodward book reveals
DONALD Trump scribbled the words "trade is bad" on a speech he gave after the G20 summit last year, a bombshell book by Watergate journalist Bob Woodward reveals. Woodward also claimed Trump's top economic adviser stole a memo about ending a trade deal with South Korea from his desk "to protect the country" in an astonishing breach of White House security. Trump's aides would deliberately and routinely shield information to stop him making catastrophic decisions, the famed reporter claimed in Fear: Trump In The White House. Woodward said Trump made the note about trade while he was on his way back to the US from the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. He wrote in the book: "Trump was editing an upcoming speech with [former staff secretary Rob] Porter. Scribbling his thoughts in neat, clean penmanship, the president wrote, 'TRADE IS BAD'." Although he never said the words, Woodward says the phrase was the "truest expression" of Trump's "protectionism, isolationism and fervent … [Read more...] about Donald Trump wrote ‘trade is bad’ on G20 speech and aides stole memos from him ‘to protect US’, bombshell Bob Woodward book reveals
