The National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas issued a warning on the evening of August 11, cautioning residents of the Las Vegas Valley against heavy rain, nuisance flooding, gusty winds and frequent lightning. According to the agency, LAS Airport officially picked up 0.58 inches of rainfall with last night's downpour, bringing this year's monsoon season rainfall total to 1.28 feet—a record for the city. In video shared on social media, floodwater could be seen pouring into a one casino, while a parking garage appeared transformed into a fast-moving river. A person is in custody after causing a disturbance at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Sunday morning, sparking panic among travelers, false reports of an active shooter and ongoing delays and cancellations, according to airport officials and Las Vegas police. The panic was sparked by what an airport spokesperson called a "loud noise" that created a "security incident." Las Vegas police said on Twitter that the disturbance was believed to have been caused by an "unruly subject" who has since been taken into custody.
