The “Put it to the People” march, organised by People’s Vote, will call for the public to be given a final say on any Brexit deal. Its timing – on March 23 – follows suggestions that a deal may not be agreed until the eleventh hour. Britain is due to leave the European Union on March 29. Pro-Remain MPs from across the Commons welcomed the announcement, with Tory former minister Anna Soubry saying there will be “nowhere for any MP to hide” come the final week of March. A fresh bid to build hundreds of homes on land at Willingdon has been unveiled. Amended plans for 700 homes on the Hindsland and Morning Mills Farm site off the A22270 Eastbourne Road were submitted to Wealden District Council earlier this month – a change to the original application for 1,100 homes.Included in the plan is a medical centre, primary school, community hall, local shops, allotments, playing fields and open spaces with two new accesses on to the estate.People have until Boxing Day to voice their concern or support for the scheme.The landowners, the University of Brighton and Charles and Peter Vine, who grew up on the land, say the development will create a new sustainable neighbourhood on the 51.2 hectare site, currenly scrub land, redundant playing fields, open land and farmland.An amended design and access statement submitted with the application for outline planning permission says, “Our vision is to create an inclusive sustainable neighbourhood that … [Read more...] about Revised plan for 700 homes outside Eastbourne

As with previous yellow vest protests, mass demonstrations are being organised online on social media sites like Facebook, with several thousand already suggesting they were ready to take part in more demonstrations. Many of the events and those who are interested in going are calling for more disorder in the capital. Protests planned for next weekend under the name Acte IV (Act 4) refer to the fact that this could be the fourth weekend of protests in France.
