HATTERAS, N.C. (AP) — Ferry service along the North Carolina coast is experiencing interruptions because of a rising number of COVID-19 cases in crew members and mechanical issues on the vessels themselves. The Virginian-Pilot reports the Cedar Island, Swan Quarter and Hatteras routes are affected, the N.C. Department of Transportation said in a news release. Last Thursday, three ferries on the Pamlico Sound routes and one on the Hatteras route were out of service due to mechanical issues. In addition, COVID-19 cases are on the rise locally and have impacted recent departure schedules on the Hatteras route. The news release said that while nearly all recent cases have recovered and returned to work, future cases can't be predicted and could lead to other interruptions. Bad weather and sand build up created major delays on the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry operation over the past few months. Having emerged as a permanent and well-constructed nucleus for the famed folk artistes of western Rajasthan, a new centre situated deep in the Thar desert is helping the Langa-Manganiyar and other singers in honing the skills of their youngsters. The centre has also provided a permanent platform to the artistes from about 50 villages in Barmer and Jaisalmer districts. The new campus of Dharohar Lok Kala and Gramin Vikas Sansthan, situated over two-bigha land in Sheo village, 55 km from Barmer, will function as sanctum sanctorum of the vocal and instrumental ensemble of Langas and Manganiyars and help save their rapidly disappearing narrative traditions. The 6 idol teams that appeared in the concert and fan meeting were all formed through Mnet’s audition program “Produce 101 Japan,” season 1 and 2 winners JO1 and INI and 4 teams made of participants who did not make the final round. All the members were Japanese, and only INI had one Chinese member. The reporters who came to cover the event were in agony. Should I refer to these teams as “K-pop idols” or “J-pop idols”? But the Moon Jae-in administration wants to spend money on creating 1.03 million public jobs — a 10 percent increase from this year — for senior citizens. The government is putting 21.3 trillion won into so-called Korean New Deal projects to help foster digital and green economies along with ratcheting up our social safety net.
