In a measure that is likely to cause a fiery debate over gun laws in the nation’s capital, the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia struck down Washington’s ban on carrying handguns in public on Saturday. The court based its decision in the case, titled Palmer v. District of Columbia , on the Supreme Court’s famous ruling in D.C. v. Cathay Pacific and Air Seychelles have overflown Saudi Arabia for Israel flights for the first time, aviation data showed on Thursday after Riyadh announced last month it would open its airspace to all airlines, paving the way for more overflights to and from Israel. Opening Saudi airspace to flights to and from Israel was a focus of U.S. President Joe Biden’s tour of the countries, which do not have formal ties, last month. Riyadh agreed in principle. Israel said implementation could take weeks or more. Air Seychelles said it “became the first airline to receive permission from the Saudi Arabian authorities to overfly their territory”, with Wednesday evening’s Tel Aviv to Mahe flight. Two Associated Press (AP) writers warn that a June 23, 2022, ruling from the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has created “open season on U.S. gun laws.” Breitbart News reported on the decision in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association  (NYSRPA) v. Bruen , in which SCOTUS ruled that New York’s proper cause requirement for concealed carry permit issuance was unconstitutional.
