Sen. Warren Says She’s Not Running for President in 2020

· April 7, 2018 ·

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., last Thursday said she would serve her full term if re-elected in November, and squashed rumors she would be running for president in 2020, per a report in Politico. “Yes, that’s my plan. I’m running for the United States Senate in 2018,” Warren told reporters Thursday at a town hall meeting for the Boston Teachers when asked about committing to serve her six-year term. “I am not running for president of the United States. That’s my plan.”' Warren holds a large fundraising advantage over her opponents for U.S. senator, and recent polls had her leading the race by 30 points with a 53 percent approval rating. One of the most outspoken Democrats on Capitol Hill, Warren was first elected in 2012. It was rumored that Warren would jump into the 2020 presidential race after she made a series of moves that would put her in prime position to run, but the senator outright squashed those rumors Thursday.  … [Read more...] about Sen. John Hickenlooper talks to Rolling Stone about marijuana, the 2020 presidential race and the future of The Denver Post

· April 9, 2018 ·

WASHINGTON — Gov. John Hickenlooper spoke to Rolling Stone for a piece the magazine posted Monday as part of a four-day, cross-country tour and the two-term Democrat used the conversation to defend Colorado’s decision to legalize marijuana while addressing other issues such as immigration and the fate of The Denver Post. The Rolling Stone interview also touched on the possibility of a 2020 run for the White House but — as he’s done previously – Hickenlooper shot down the idea of a third-way ticket with Republican Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. “I don’t think we would ever run together just because, as he says, ‘Hickenlooper would never be my VP and I would never be his VP.’ That’s always a problem,” Hickenlooper said in a Q&A published by the magazine. On marijuana, Hickenlooper acknowledged some of his initial skepticism but said the worst of his fears haven’t come to pass. “Certainly the worst things that we … [Read more...] about John Hickenlooper talks to Rolling Stone about marijuana, the 2020 presidential race and the future of The Denver Post

She has her eye on 2020 and Trump, but first this California senator is lending a hand in 2018

· April 13, 2018 ·

WASHINGTON—She’s been in the Senate for just more than a year, but California Democrat Kamala Harris has been quickly making friends.Through the first quarter of 2018, which ended March 31, Harris has helped raise campaign cash for all 26 of the Senate Democrats up for re-election in November. She’s also raised money for two Democrats gunning to unseat Republican senators in Arizona and Nevada.According to her staff, Harris’ efforts — via her political action committee, her email list and by lending her voice to other Democratic party committees and groups — have brought in more than $3 million for her colleagues up for election this fall. They’ve also taken her to parts of the country that will be pivotal in the 2020 presidential race, a contest Harris herself is widely expected to join. On Saturday, California’s junior senator will headline a sold-out Michigan Democratic Party dinner in Detroit and attend a fundraiser for Sen. Debbie … [Read more...] about She has her eye on 2020 and Trump, but first this California senator is lending a hand in 2018

Joe Biden again says he hasn’t ruled out 2020 run, will decide by year’s end

· April 15, 2018 ·

Former vice president Joe Biden said in an interview broadcast Sunday that he has not ruled out a presidential run in 2020 and that he expects to make a decision by the end of the year. Biden has previously left the door open to a 2020 presidential run but gave a newly expansive account of his thinking to the Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s “PoliticsNation.” “I’m really hoping that some other folks step up,” Biden said. “I think we have some really good people. … I got to walk away knowing that it is — there’s somebody who can do it and can win because we’ve got to win. We’ve got to win in 2020.” Biden said he is still struggling to recover from the 2015 death of his son Beau at 46 from brain cancer. In a December ABC interview, Biden said it could be a year before he might be ready to make a decision. “It takes time to come back,” he said. “Look, no man has a right to go … [Read more...] about Joe Biden again says he hasn’t ruled out 2020 run, will decide by year’s end

Joe Biden Not Ruling Out 2020 Run for White House

· April 15, 2018 ·

Former Vice President Joe Biden is not ruling out a run for the White House in 2020, he told MSNBC's "Politics Nation" on Sunday, knowing "I've got to make my decision by the end of this year." "I've been honest about this," Biden told MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton. "If the Lord almighty, Al, came down and said, 'the nomination is yours now, you have to accept it now,' I would not." But check with him before the end of the year, he told Sharpton. ". . . And, by the way, these polls are showing me winning and all this stuff. You and I both know that don't mean a thing until you're in the green." Biden admitted his decision might come down to his own honest assessment of whether or not he is the best for the Democratic party. "I got to walk away knowing . . . there's somebody who can do it and can win, because we've got to win – we've got to win in 2020," Biden said. "And – but for me, Rev, it's selfish, but it's about putting my family back together. "You know, I lost my son, … [Read more...] about Joe Biden Not Ruling Out 2020 Run for White House
