A GRANDDAD lost half his head after a "stubborn spot" turned out to be skin cancer that spread like a "flesh-eating bug". Colin Davies became concerned when the grape-sized spot on his forehead kept growing. The 66-year-old said he noticed the growth after years of fishing in the sun. At the age of 44 he was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, which is rarely a deadly or aggressive form of the disease. But in Colin's case he has been plagued with 21 tumours in the last 25 years. And he's undergone operations to remove vast swathes of tissue, the latest to rid him of three tumours. During a 13-hour op he had three tumours from his ear, ear canal, part of his lower jaw, neck and shoulder removed to try and banish the cancer. And he had a giant chunk of his scalp removed and replaced with an acrylic plate, before a skin graft from his leg to cover the wound.
