Since he left office in 2001, the median income has declined by 5 percent, or more than $2,500. The number of Americans in poverty has increased by 38 percent, or about 12 million. The number of children in poverty has spiked by one-third, or nearly 4 million. Few decades in American history have produced such economic losses. Capri Sun, a popular brand of juice, is the subject of a new recall due to contamination with a cleaning solution. The Kraft Heinz Company on Monday announced a voluntary recall of a particular batch of Capri Sun juice pouch products. Over 5,700 cases of the brand's "Wild Cherry Flavored Juice Drink Blend" product became contaminated with a diluted cleaning solution that is typically used on the company's food processing equipment, according to a statement released by the company. "The issue was discovered after we received several consumer complaints about the taste of the affected product," the statement said. "The Company is actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove potentially impacted product from circulation." JSW Neo Energy to acquire 1,753 MW renewable energy capacity from Mytrah Energy
JSW Energy on Wednesday said its arm JSW Neo Energy will acquire 1,753 MW of renewable energy generation capacity from Mytrah Energy for ₹10,530 crore. JSW Neo Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy, has agreed to acquire a portfolio of 1,753 MW of renewable energy generation capacity - comprising 17 SPVs and one ancillary SPV - from Mytrah Energy (India) Private Limited, according to a statement. Necessary definitive agreements have been signed between the parties, it added. The transaction is subject to the approval of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and other customary approvals standards for a transaction of this size. The transaction values the Mytrah Energy portfolio at an enterprise valuation of approximately ₹10,530 crore after adjusting for net current assets, as per the statement. Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Holding group owned largely by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal made investments in Russian oil and gas firms before and after Russia began its so-called ‘military operation’ in Ukraine. The group disclosed in a filing on Sunday that it invested roughly $500mn in Russian energy majors Gazprom, Rosneft and Lukoil in February and then later in March. Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Kingdom Holdings invested much of the $500mn in Gazprom. The energy giant received $364mn. The Saudi prince, Alwaleed bin Talal, is one of Saudi Arabia’s highest-profile investors who has also invested in the Four Season hotel chain and also owns a stake in Twitter. 1,705 illegal banners removed, damaged vehicles cleared
The Greater Chennai Corporation has removed 1,705 illegal banners in various parts of the city as part of the cleanliness drive for implementing People’s Movement for Clean Cities. Damaged vehicles dumped along the road were also removed as part of the drive. The State government had launched the People’s Movement for Clean Cities with support from NGOs, traders and residents. On Saturday, Corporation officials removed 41 illegal banners in Tiruvottiyur, 21 in Manali, 10 in Madhavaram, 13 in Tondiarpet, 26 in Royapuram, 287 in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, 156 in Ambattur, 96 in Anna Nagar, 51 in Teynampet, 33 in Kodambakkam, 172 in Valasaravakkam, 241 in Alandur, 103 in Adyar, 240 in Perungudi and 215 in Sholinganallur. Fifty six damaged vehicles were removed from the roads. Seven tonnes of scrap was removed from public spaces. A total of 171 tonnes of waste was removed on Saturday.
