UNITED NATIONS -- U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley condemned Thursday the militant group that controls the Gaza Strip of exploiting Palestinians as violence there continues unabated. "Hamas has exploited and endangered the very Palestinian people it claims to represent by locating rocket launchers near schools, apartment buildings, hotels, churches and U.N. facilities," Haley said at the U.N. Security Council. From the time Haley arrived at the U.N. last year, she has made a point of trying to turn the tide of what the Trump administration considers to be overwhelmingly anti-Israel resolutions and debate at the Security Council, at the General Assembly and at U.N. agencies. In December, the Trump administration recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and announced that the U.S. Embassy would be moved there from Tel Aviv, prompting criticism at the U.N. Later that month, Haley vetoed a Security Council draft resolution that would have called for the reversal of … [Read more...] about Nikki Haley drives Trump’s Israel policy at U.N.

Haley, the United Nations ambassador, is also not confused about public perception and how it may affect her undeclared, but evidently simmering presidential ambitions. While other administration members are soiled by one scandal after another — if they’ve managed to survive this long — she presents herself as singularly focused, and sailing above the unending fray. After United Nations (UN) Ambassador Nikki Haley got into a spat with chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow, the political and media establishment is now rallying around the former South Carolina governor to attack President Trump. This week, Haley falsely claimed on a Sunday talk show that the Trump administration would be releasing a package of sanctions against Russia, saying they “will go directly to any sort of companies that were dealing with equipment related to [Syrian President] Assad and chemical weapons use.”Days later, after the White House had already walked back Haley’s claim, Kudlow told CNN that Haley “got ahead of the curve,” saying “there might have been some momentary confusion about that.” That’s when Haley responded to Kudlow publicly, saying “With all due respect, I don’t get confused,” causing a media firestorm around the White House. Haley’s remarks to Kudlow armed the mainstream … [Read more...] about Nikki Haley Becomes Anti-Trump Media, Political Establishment’s Darling: ‘She Ain’t Going to Take Any Mansplaining’
NEW YORK — The public split between the White House and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley this week over Russia sanctions threw a spotlight on her at-times uneasy relationship with President Donald Trump, even as her deft rebuttal bolstered talk about her own future political fortunes. Haley's rejoinder to a putdown from a close Trump adviser about message confusion — she declared that "I don't get confused" — was seized as a rallying cry among some women and echoed the audacity the former governor displayed while upending the old boys' club in the South Carolina Statehouse. But the episode also called into question her standing on Mr. Trump's national security team ahead of tough decisions on North Korea, Iran and other fronts. "What distinguishes her from the star-struck sycophants in the White House is that she understands the intersection of strong leadership and public service, where great things happen," said Rob Godfrey, a spokesman for Haley when she was governor. … [Read more...] about Nikki Haley’s “I don’t get confused” comment captures attention
