The suits seek recourse for a missed call that could have cost the Saints a trip to the Super Bowl. Publications with stories on one or both suits include WGNO.com, Sports Illustrated, the Associated Press, Yahoo Sports and the New Orleans Advocate. One of the lawsuits, filed by lawyer Frank D’Amico Jr., seeks a writ of mandamus that would compel the NFL to follow its own rules, according to a statement on D’Amico’s website. Another year, another leaked rumor that the Philadelphia Eagles will face the Minnesota Vikings in a primetime matchup. Appearing Wednesday on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast, "Sports Business Journal" reporter John Ourand said the Eagles and Vikings are "in play" for a game in Minnesota on Thanksgiving night.Well before the start of last season, a rumor surfaced that the Eagles would be opening their season at home against the Vikings in an NFC Championship Game rematch. When the schedule came out, it was actually the Falcons at home to start the season and the Vikings in week five. A sportsbook in New Jersey is refunding bets on the New Orleans Saints game, and eye doctors in Louisiana and Texas are offering free exams to NLF referees after the team's controversial loss Sunday in the NFC championship game. PointsBet said Monday it will refund spread and money-line bets on the Saints, who lost the game after officials failed to call a penalty on a Los Angeles Rams defender who leveled a New Orleans receiver long before the ball arrived. The company announced what it calls a "Good Karma Payout" due to an unlikely event that swayed the result of a game. PointsBet did not say how much the refunds will cost the company.
