The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange is expected to beat a new record of 1,300 points at the end of this year as Vietnamese shares are attractive to investors due to affordable prices, said Nguyen Thanh Lam, head of analysis department at Maybank Kim Eng Securities Company. Speaking at a seminar discussing the stock market outlook in the second half of 2018 last Friday, Lam said Vietnamese shares are cheaper than regional products by 25% to 30%. Investors should be careful as there will be clear differentiation among listed enterprises. All players should prepare for three scenarios of the main index, including that at 820 points, 1,100 points and 1,300 points, Lam was cited by Dau tu Chung khoan website as saying. VN Foreign Minister asks Malaysia for ’fair trial’ and release of Doan Thi Huong
Foreign Minister Phạm Bình Minh had a telephone conversation today with his Malaysian counterpart Saifuddin Abdullah regarding the trial of a Vietnamese national involved in the murder of a North Korean citizen. Minister Minh said the high-ranking leadership of Việt Nam and the Vietnamese public are paying great attention to every development in the case, and asked Malaysian courts to “ensure a fair trial and release Đoàn Thị Hương”. Đoàn Thị Hương, 30, was accused of smearing a North Korean citizen, whose passport name was Kim Chol, with a nerve agent at Kuala Lumpur airport on February 13, 2017, resulting in his death. Cyber security law not hamper VN’s realisation of int’l treaties
The Law on Cyber Security is in conformity with the Constitution and does not hamper the implementation of the international treaties to which Vietnam is a party, said Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang.
