I showed up at the central New York City bus station at 6:45 a.m. not sure where I was going, not even exactly sure what I was looking for. “Go through the glass door entrance on 8th and look at the directory or ask the information booth; be careful going up the block, there are scuzzy people on this street,” a Port Authority security officer told me when I asked where I was supposed to go to meet “a bus coming from Texas, sent by the government.” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) announced months ago that he would begin sending migrants to Democrat-controlled “sanctuary cities” — a fitting destination for the flood of illegal immigration triggered by President Joe Biden’s lax border policy. Aside from New York City, Abbott is also sending migrants to Washington, DC, and more sanctuary cities are soon to be announced. I walked up 41st toward 8th and passed a man sleeping on the ground under a blanket covered in grease stains and street grime — “scuzzy,” maybe, but not unusual if … [Read more...] about Morris: My Day with a Biden Migrant — Broke, Abandoned, and Lost in New York

Polio fears rise in New York amid possible community spread
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 3 ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York state health officials issued a more urgent call Thursday for unvaccinated children and adults to get inoculated against polio, citing new evidence of possible “community spread” of the dangerous virus. The polio virus has now been found in seven different wastewater samples in two adjacent counties north of New York City, health officials said. So far, only one person has tested positive for polio — an unvaccinated adult in Rockland County who suffered paralysis. But based on earlier polio outbreaks, "New Yorkers should know that for every one case of paralytic polio observed, there may be hundreds of other people infected,” the state's health commissioner, Dr. Mary T. Bassett, said in a statement. “Coupled with the latest wastewater findings, the Department is treating the single case of polio as just the tip of the iceberg of much greater … [Read more...] about Polio fears rise in New York amid possible community spread
Public Health Officials: Polio Detected in New York City Sewage
New York State public health officials announced Friday that polio was detected in New York City’s wastewater samples and called on unvaccinated residents to receive the vaccination against the infectious disease. “The risk to New Yorkers is real but the defense is so simple — get vaccinated against polio,” New York City Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan said. “With polio circulating in our communities there is simply nothing more essential than vaccinating our children to protect them from this virus, and if you’re an unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated adult, please choose now to get the vaccine. Polio is entirely preventable and its reappearance should be a call to action for all of us.” Polio has been detected in New York City wastewater samples – according to Health officials “Only 86.2% of NYC children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old have received 3 doses of the polio vaccine – nearly 14% remain not fully protected.” pic.twitter.com/5Ub8VDMfHd — … [Read more...] about Public Health Officials: Polio Detected in New York City Sewage

Trump Pleads The Fifth In New York AG Deposition
Former President Donald Trump announced he did not answer any of New York Attorney General Letitia James’ questions as she deposed him Wednesday, employing his constitutional right against self-incrimination. Trump shared a statement on Truth Social Wednesday declaring his innocence, criticizing James, calling the deposition “part of an unfounded politically motivated Witch Hunt” and referencing the Monday FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence. He concluded, “Accordingly, under the advice of my counsel and for all the above reasons, I declined to answer the questions under the right and privileges afforded to every citizen under the United States Constitution.” James has been investigating Trump and the Trump Organization for bank, tax and insurance fraud since 2019. This person, speaking on the condition of anonymity to describe the closed session, said Trump stated his name, formally declared his Fifth Amendment right not to … [Read more...] about Amid tumultuous week, Trump takes the Fifth during deposition in New York
