Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Navy`s Western Fleet Quick Response Unit in Lhokseumawe, Aceh Province, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 67.42 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from Malaysia on Thursday, a naval officer said. The smuggling attempt could be foiled thanks to good collaboration between the intelligence officers of the Main Naval Base I and their colleagues from the Lhokseumawe Naval Base, Western Fleet Chief Rear Admiral Yudo Margono said here on Friday. The navy`s intelligence officers were also convinced by the tip-offs from several local fishermen on Tuesday that a suspected speedboat coming from the Malaysian island of Penang might enter the Seruwei waters, he said. President Donald Trump celebrated the “Cajun Navy,” a group of citizen volunteers who traveled to rescue citizens from the wrath of Hurricane Florence. “We love the Cajun Navy – THANK YOU!” Trump wrote on Twitter on Friday, sharing a video of the group.The Cajun Navy was formed after Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana in 2005. They also rescued hundreds of victims in the 2017 hurricane season in Texas during Hurricane Harvey. About 1,000 volunteers traveled up to the Carolinas to help with victims of Hurricane Florence. Many volunteers of the Cajun Navy participated in the rescue of hundreds of citizens who were caught by rising tides in New Bern, North Carolina. As the storm headed toward land Thursday night into Friday morning, Fontenot and his group say they helped to rescue more than 150 people, including terrified parents, their sleepy toddlers and scores of elderly trapped in attics, as water moved higher and higher inside their homes.
