Testosterone-fueled buck gores Georgia man trying to scare it with broom
A testosterone-fueled buck gored a man in Georgia as he tried to scare off the hand-reared animal with a broom. The man, from Newton County, spent eight hours in the ER after the attack, requiring stitches to his forearm. Footage shared by the Wildlife Resources Division – Georgia DNR shows the moment the young buck charged the man and pushed him to the ground. There are an estimated 1.27 million deer living in Georgia, but this does not include those living in urban and suburban areas. These deer move into residential areas because they provide a safe habitat and food. However, their presence can pose a risk to humans and deer. In some cases, predators follow the deer into urban areas, bringing animals like coyotes and bears in close contact with people. In other cases, such as in Newton County, people start treating deer, which are wild animals, as pets. As a result, they lose their natural fear of people, and attacks can occur. Fans fearful the “best streamer” will be gutted as HBO Max changes hands
HBO Max patrons have expressed fears that the popular streaming service will be completely gutted, following a major merger earlier this year. Since launching in May 2020, the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned entity has gone on to become a hugely favored streaming service, thanks to its breadth of content that has been built around HBO , Warner Bros. and their related brands. However, this week it was reported that the upcoming Batgirl movie has been shelved at HBO Max , prompting questions about the platform's future following the April 2022 merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, Inc. Warner Bros. Discovery has decided that the nearly $90 million Batman spinoff, which had been expected to debut later this year , will no longer be released on the HBO Max platform, in theaters or on any other platform owned by the company, according to a report from The Wrap that was later confirmed by Variety . Executives reportedly decided to axe the film, which had completed filming … [Read more...] about Fans fearful the “best streamer” will be gutted as HBO Max changes hands

S.F.’s Tunnel Tops park is open. But it might not be the best new park at the Presidio
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 4 The difference between the Presidio’s two adventurous new parks can be summed up by the feel of their respective perches that showcase the Golden Gate Bridge. Venture into Presidio Tunnel Tops — the $118 million, 14-acre extravaganza that opens Sunday — and San Francisco’s international icon is on full view each step of your journey to Veterans Overlook, where the pathway widens to 16 feet and there’s an undulating biomorphic bench crafted from cypress trees that once grew nearby. Stroll the trail that flows through Battery Bluff , which opened in April a quarter-mile to the west along Lincoln Boulevard, and you encounter the tree-framed vista almost by surprise, plus a terrace-like overlook where you can relax while savoring the postcard-worthy view. Each vista is a knockout. Your preference for one or the other could depend on how you feel that day. And that’s true … [Read more...] about S.F.’s Tunnel Tops park is open. Ok Google, Take Me to a Banyan. Hyderabad’s Green Activists Geotag 914 Trees in Effort to Protect Them
The next time you are in Hyderabad, ask Google Maps to guide you to one of the 914 banyan trees lining both sides of the Hyderabad-Manneguda highway. The majestic trees have been geotagged by the city’s green activists in an effort to protect them. The activists suspected an attempt to burn down the giant trees. To curb this, the activists decided to geotag them. The exercise involved noting the latitude and longitude of each tree, clicking its photographs and then plotting it on a map. As a result, in just a click, you can find the location of all these trees. Speaking to News18 , Sadhana Ramchander, a member of a group, ‘Nature Lovers of Hyderabad’, said: “The geotagging was done by 20 volunteers who put over 200 hours marking the GPS location of each tree. Besides this, attributes such as tree girth and presence of prop roots were also noted.” https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1rYZY4oeTh12IRdAebxjSUsdKtWwCcEA&ll=17.314523507653995%2C78.14358915&z=12 “Nearly … [Read more...] about Ok Google, Take Me to a Banyan. IIT Delhi Researchers Propose Non-invasive Diagnostic Tool for Epileptogenic Zone Detection
IIT Delhi researchers has come up with a non-invasive EEG-based Brain Source Localization (BSL) framework for epilepsy focal detection that is time efficient and patient-friendly. Given the EEG data with seizures, the array processing algorithms can point to the coordinates within minutes. In particular, the team of researchers, led by Prof Lalan Kumar, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi, have proposed novel head harmonics-based algorithms for seizure localization. “Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder in the world and affects millions worldwide. It involves brief episodes of involuntary body (partial/entire) movement called seizures and may be accompanied by loss of consciousness and control of bowel or bladder function, primarily due to erroneous excessive electrical discharges. Quite a lot of epilepsies can be controlled by medicines, however, when medicines fail to control seizures, it is labeled as drug-resistant epilepsy,” said the IIT.
