While NASA’s Perseverance rover might not have been successful in finding signs of life on Mars yet, it has recently spotted signs of something else. The American space agency reported that the rover has spotted human trash on the Red Planet. “My team has spotted something unexpected,” NASA wrote in a Tweet while sharing pictures of the debris. The rover stumbled upon a piece of thermal blanket that NASA suspects must have come from the Perseverance’s descent stage. The shiny foil-like thermal blanket is what protects the rover from extreme temperatures that it experiences while landing. My team has spotted something unexpected: It’s a piece of a thermal blanket that they think may have come from my descent stage, the rocket-powered jet pack that set me down on landing day back in 2021. pic.twitter.com/O4rIaEABLu — NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover (@NASAPersevere) June 15, 2022 In the pictures shared by NASA, the shiny litter can be seen stuck between rocks on the Red Planet. … [Read more...] about NASA’s Perseverance Rover Just Spotted Something ‘Unexpected’ on Mars

‘Pet Rock’ Accompanies NASA’s Perseverance Rover, Travels Miles While Stuck in Wheel
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Perseverance rover has been sent for Mars exploration where it collects samples to aid space research. Although it was sent alone to the Red planet, it has now adopted a pet rock there. A rock has been stuck in the rover’s front left wheel and has refused to move for the past four months. According to a statement by NASA, the uninvited companion boarded the rover in early February and has hitchhiked for more than 8.5 kilometres. The rock popped up in photos taken by the rover’s Hazard Avoidance Camera (Hazcam) mounted near the front left wheel. Recent photos show that the rock is still riding even after covering a significant distance. While the rock might have spoiled the photos, NASA says that it hasn’t damaged the rover’s wheel and is not likely to disrupt its journey. The rover is now headed towards an ascent of one of the Jezero crater’s steep slopes. And, this might help the Perseverance get rid of the rock. … [Read more...] about ‘Pet Rock’ Accompanies NASA’s Perseverance Rover, Travels Miles While Stuck in Wheel

World Thalassemia Day 2021: All You Need to Know About the Disease That Kills Thousands
Thalassemia refers to a blood disease that is primarily inherited. The condition results in the production of abnormal haemoglobin. The disorder concludes in the extreme damage of red blood cells, which leads to a condition when your body doesn’t have sufficient regular healthy red blood cells. This condition in medical terms is called Anaemia. Thalassemia runs into generations which means that you are likely to witness the disease if one of your parents has a history of braving the disease. Thalassemia is caused by the deletion of specific key gene fragments or via genetic mutation. Thalassemia minor, on the other hand, is a less severe form of the disease. There are two main classes of thalassemia that are more dangerous, alpha-thalassemia and beta-thalassemia. While in the former case, one of the alpha-globin genes has an abnormality or mutation in the latter, the beta-globin genes are affected. MSNBC’s Vance on SCOTUS Dobbs Ruling: ‘It’s a Very Dark Day in America’
MSNBC legal analyst Joyce Vance said Friday on “José Díaz-Balart Reports” that the Supreme Court ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision was a “very dark day in America.” Vance said, “In this country, we’re so used to the courts as the guarantor of our civil rights. When states prohibited Black people from voting in the South, activists went to the court to make sure all people were treated equally in our system of government.” She continued, “This is monumental because it’s the first time we have seen the court take away a right. And the way they do it, the context in which they do it, saying that there is historically no right grounded in the Constitution and its text or in its precedent or in our history that guarantees women rights to equality, that bodes poorly for other rights that have been the subject of the culture wars in this country. The culture wars that led to this newly conservative 6-3 really a super … [Read more...] about MSNBC’s Vance on SCOTUS Dobbs Ruling: ‘It’s a Very Dark Day in America’
