DUSHANBE (Reuters) - Tajikistan's government on Tuesday accused a banned Islamist party of being behind an attack on July 29 which killed four tourists. Powerful quake kills 82 on Indonesia’s Lombok, tourists flee

By Kanupriya Kapoor MATARAM, Indonesia (Reuters) - Daybreak revealed chaos and destruction across the Indonesian resort island of Lombok on Monday after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake killed at least 82 people and prompted an exodus of tourists rattled by the second powerful quake in a week. The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said the death toll was expected to rise with initial reports of hundreds injured and thousands of buildings collapsed or badly damaged. Power and communications were cut in some areas of Lombok, and the military said it was sending in a vessel with medical aid, supplies and logistical support for the island. Lombok was hit a week earlier, on July 29, by a 6.4 magnitude quake that killed 17 people, injured hundreds and briefly stranded several trekkers on the slopes of a volcano. Politics ​South Korea’s destroyer visits central Vietnam Hanoi, Da Nang to tighten management of pets

A naval destroyer of South Korea arrived at Vietnam’s central metropolis of Da Nang on Tuesday morning, commencing a four-day visit aimed at strengthening the nations’ strategic ties. The multipurpose destroyer, ROKS Moon Mu the Great, is docking at the city’s Tien Sa Port and is scheduled to leave Vietnam on September 14. The ship’s 302 crew members and their captain Doh Jin Woo will meet officials from the municipal government and the High Command of Naval Region 3, a naval body that monitors waters along central Vietnam. The High Command and the vessel’s personnel will conduct joint training in team formation and communication – which can be seen as a symbolic gesture for greater military cooperation between Hanoi and Seoul.
