Former L.A. County Sheriff’s Department veterans Robert “Bob” Lindsey, a retired sheriff’s commander who lives in the San Gabriel Valley, and Alex Villanueva, a retired lieutenant who lives in La Habra Heights, were also vying to run the agency. Hennepin County Sheriff-Elect Hutchinson retains law firm in case of recount
In the ongoing saga of the contentious Hennepin County Sheriff's race, Sheriff-Elect Dave Hutchinson has retained legal counsel in case defeated Sheriff Rich Stanek asks for a recount. On Tuesday, the county's canvassing board certified Hutchinson as sheriff. He won the election by 2,340 votes, a small margin of victory but not one that requires an automatic recount. Stanek has seven days to request a manual recount, but it would cost him $95,000. He hasn't made a decision on a recount, and said he wants to look at voter data before taking any action. "Pursuing a recount is not in the best interest of the Sheriff's Office or the residents of the Hennepin County," Hutchinson campaign spokesman Jeremy Zoss said in a statement. "While we are hopeful that a recount will be avoided, we have taken the precautionary step of retaining Fredrikson and Byron to assist our campaign in the event that outgoing Sheriff Rich Stanek calls for one." Share Tweet Email Share: Share Tweet Email Share: Share Tweet Email KTRK HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Two people are in custody after a Harris County deputy was shot to death, according to the sheriff's office.Late Friday, deputies identified 47-year-old Robert Solis as one of the suspects.Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal "was unable to recover from his injuries" after he was shot in the back of the head during a traffic stop in northwest Harris County.In a news conference Friday afternoon, officials described the suspected shooter simply as a Hispanic male.According to Harris County Sheriff's Office Maj.
