President Donald Trump looks at military conflict as "the last possible option" Rep. Lee Zeldin said Monday, and he believes the president's often-strong words are meant as a deterrent and to show he's willing to use force if it's necessary against nations like Iran and North Korea. "Just like the situation in 2017 with North Koreans...whether Iran or anybody else, if you attack the United States, you will be met with 'fire and fury,'" the New York Republican told Fox News' Harris Faulkner on "Outnumbered Overtime." Zeldin, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said that when Trump briefs House members on Tuesday about the Iran situation, it will be vital to learn more about a rocket that landed within a mile of the U.S. embassy in Baghdad Sunday, and about any other threats or intelligence that exists that may require action. Zeldin said he's had several conversations with Trump on foreign policy and Iran, North Korea and more, and noted that Trump will often bring … [Read more...] about Zeldin: Trump Sees Military Conflict as ‘Last Possible Option’
The "stakes" are high in the upcoming summit between president Donald Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, because a breakdown in talks of denuclearization now would likely lead to military action, according to retired Adm. Mike Mullen. "What I'm saying is if the talks fail that the likelihood of options are dramatically reduced to potential conflict, and that's a huge worry," Mullen told "Fox News Sunday." "What I am most concerned about is if this doesn't result in a positive outcome, the potential for, I think, military conflict goes up and therefore you get into whether or not [Kim] would use the nuclear weapons. . . . "I want to understand what the potential outcomes could be both on the upside and the downside." Mullen, a former Joint Chiefs of Staff in both former President George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations, admitted he is "more skeptical than optimistic" June 12's summit with Kim will render a positive result, and "hypothetically" increasing the … [Read more...] about Mike Mullen: Military Action More Likely If Kim Talks Fail

World China’s foreign ministry has reacted angrily to an alarming report published by the U.S. Department of Defense, which warned that Beijing’s modernizing military could pose a threat to the United States. The 140-page report—titled “China Military Power: Modernizing a Force to Fight and Win”—was published by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
