Pop Star Halsey Says Label Won’t Release Her Music Unless She Goes Viral on TikTok

May 24, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

Pop star Halsey says her label will not release her new music unless she goes viral on the Chinese-owned app TikTok, adding, “They are doing this to basically every artist.” “Basically, I have a song that I love that I want to release ASAP, but my record label won’t let me,” Halsey said in a now-viral TikTok video. “I’ve been in this industry for eight years, and I’ve sold over 165 million records.” “And my record company is saying I can’t release it unless they can fake a viral moment on TikTok,” the singer added. Halsey went on to say that “Everything is marketing. And they are doing this to basically every artist these days.” “I just want to release music, man, and I deserve better,” she added. “I’m tired.” Halsey is not the only artist to claim their label will not release their new music unless they produce a viral TikTok video. Other artists — such as FKA Twigs, Charli XCX, and Florence And The Machine — have reportedly complained about their labels forcing them … [Read more...] about Pop Star Halsey Says Label Won’t Release Her Music Unless She Goes Viral on TikTok

On Thursday, a user on the popular discussion site Mumsnet explained the story—that she said was actually really her husband's story. She explained: "17 years ago when my husband was a student, he gave his friend free dental treatment. My husband is an extremely loyal friend and is still good friends with all of his old school friends. "This particular friend, call him John, is a total waste of space and made no effort with my husband for years so they lost touch and they fell out years ago because I didn't invite him to my husband's surprise birthday party." But it turned out their paths were soon to cross again when they would both be ushers at a mutual friend's wedding in the fall. But ahead of the event, John had raised an issue. "Completely randomly John messaged my husband to say he's having issues with the tooth my … [Read more...] about Man backed for pulling out of wedding due to “vile” groomsman’s plan

February 26, 2016 by www.mirror.co.uk

Breaking down in tears live on TV, Coleen Nolan wished the ground would swallow her up. TV medic Dr Christian Jessen had broken the news to the viewers of ITV’s Loose Women that she is three stone overweight – and Coleen braced herself for even more. That she had diabetes, heart disease, or something even worse. “I was mortified to hear I was that overweight,” she says. “I knew it was coming, but I literally thought it would be a stone – not three. I nearly fell off my chair. “I was dreading him saying something even more horrific, that my lifestyle – being overweight and smoking 35 fags a day – meant I’d made myself sick.” Luckily the worse news never came. “Part of the tears were down to relief,” Coleen explains. “But I was massively embarrassed too. Pavement Takes the Stage for First Time in 12 Years at Rarities-Filled Tour Warmup Show in L.A.: Concert Review

May 24, 2022 by www.sfgate.com

Click here to read the full article. When the iconic indie-rock forebear Pavement last reunited, for a massive tour in 2010, it was a tale of two bands, depending on when you saw them. At the beginning of the run, the lineup was tighter and mightier than ever, playing Coachella with the grit of a band determined to solidify its legacy while collecting paychecks and playing venues exponentially bigger than those it hit during its initial run. If you saw Pavement at the end of the tour, though, you saw a band going through the same issues that led it to break up in the first place. At the Hollywood Bowl on the second-to-last-night of that run, the tension onstage between Stephen Malkmus and the rest of the band was palpable; it was a miracle they got through that show, not to mention the four that followed it, before calling it quits again, seemingly forever. All of which is to say, just the fact that the band was all on the same stage for the first time in 12 years at the … [Read more...] about Pavement Takes the Stage for First Time in 12 Years at Rarities-Filled Tour Warmup Show in L.A.: Concert Review

May 18, 2022 by www.independent.co.uk

A yoga instructor has shared her experience being body-shamed while trying to attend an advanced class at a yoga studio. Tiffany Crociani, who goes by the username @tiffanycroww on TikTok , recounted the interaction that she recently had at a yoga studio in a video posted to the app last week. In the video, Crociani, who is a yoga teacher and who has been practising yoga for more than 17 years, reenacted an “actual conversation” that took place between herself and the receptionist at a yoga studio she had never been to before. In the clip, Crociani began by recalling how she’d asked to check in for the yoga class upon her arrival at the studio, at which point she was asked whether she realised “this was a more advanced class”. In response, the yoga teacher said she told the front desk receptionist that that was “actually why” she was taking the class, before informing her that she has been practising yoga for more than 17 years and teaches it herself. … [Read more...] about Woman shares ‘infuriating’ experience being body-shamed by yoga studio after signing up for advanced class
