Former Trump Aide: Robert Stone ‘Likely’ to Be Indicted

· May 20, 2018 ·

Former Trump campaign adviser Sam Nunberg said Sunday it's "most likely" political operative and President Donald Trump ally Roger Stone will be indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller. In remarks to MSNBC's Alex Witt, Nunberg dismissed the significance of any legal action against the man he said he considers his mentor. "I think Roger is most likely — and he's prepared for this and he should be — is going to get indicted, on some financial, I'd say picayune matter," Nunberg said. "Mueller is treating all Trump associates as if they are the Mafia," Nunberg added. "And he is very selective about that." Earlier Sunday, Stone told NBC's "Meet The Press" that he's prepared for an indictment should it be handed up by Mueller's investigators. "He will get indicted on some stupid financial thing. He will eventually, I believe, will beat it because that's Andrew Weissmann's track record," Nunberg said, referring to the lawyer on the special counsel's investigative team who's … [Read more...] about Former Trump Aide: Robert Stone ‘Likely’ to Be Indicted

Rosetta Stone v. Google: No Easy Exit for Google from AdWords Trademark Suits

· April 30, 2012 ·

Rosetta Stone, Inc., which provides technology-based language learning products and services, sued Google in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia for direct and indirect trademark infringement and trademark dilution arising out of Google’s sale of Rosetta Stone’s trademarks as keywords in Google’s AdWords program. Google triumphed in the trial court, with the District Court granting summary judgment in favor of Google on all claims. Earlier this month, however, in Rosetta Stone, Inc. v. Google, Inc.,[1] the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit reversed the ruling and remanded the case for further proceedings on all trademark claims. For Google, the ruling means that it has no easy way to exit any trademark case arising out of its AdWords program. For brand owners, the ruling provides a road map for how to hold e-commerce web sites (Google, eBay) responsible for counterfeiters who advertise on the web site. The primary issue in Rosetta … [Read more...] about Rosetta Stone v. Far-right figures sue Caputo, saying he served as Stone’s mouthpiece

· April 18, 2019 ·

WASHINGTON – A new lawsuit accuses East Aurora political consultant Michael R. Caputo of serving as a public mouthpiece for indicted Republican trickster Roger Stone, who is under a federal gag order barring him from discussing the criminal case against him. In an unusual courtroom clash of far-right figures, conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi and Freedom Watch founder Larry Klayman sued Caputo and Stone in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia earlier this month, accusing Caputo of defamation. It's all because of what Caputo had to say on MSNBC last month about special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election. There, Caputo speculated that Corsi will testify against Stone at his upcoming trial on charges that Stone tried to get and share emails from WikiLeaks that would damage Democrat Hillary Clinton's campaign. "The Mueller team finds himself at the end of the hallway at the end of this entire game and they're staring at Jerry … [Read more...] about Far-right figures sue Caputo, saying he served as Stone’s mouthpiece

Justices Appear Ready to Overturn California Law Keeping Downer Animals Off the Menu

· November 10, 2011 ·

Supreme Court justices appeared likely Wednesday to overturn a California law aimed at keeping downer animals off of Americans’ dinner tables. The law calls for immediate euthanization of “nonambulatory” livestock and bars their slaughter, report the New York Times and the Washington Post. Justices appeared likely to overturn the law because it conflicts with a federal law giving U.S. meat inspectors the final say, the stories say.California Deputy Attorney General Susan Smith argued the state law merely provided for the removal of livestock before federal requirements applied, making it “outside the scope,” of federal law, the Post says. Several justices did not appear to be swayed. The California law mostly affects pigs because a federal law targeting mad cow disease already requires euthanasia for downer cattle, the Post says. The case is National Meat Association v. Harris. … [Read more...] about Justices Appear Ready to Overturn California Law Keeping Downer Animals Off the Menu
