A TOY company has been accused of “political correctness gone mad” after changing the words of nursery rhyme Baa Baa Black Sheep. Manufacturer V-Tech dropped the word “black” from their Little star Activity Table, replacing it with a jarring repetition of the word “sheep”. The electronic toy now sings: “Baa baa sheep sheep, have you any wool?”. The song has previously been altered in schools and other settings for fear of causing racial offence. Speaking to the Mirror, Chris McGovern, chairman of the Campaign for Real Education, described the change as “nonsense”. He said: “It should not be a colour we have to cover up and disguise. Too often people are well intentioned, but they are putting political correctness ahead of common sense. “It’s political correctness gone mad, and it’s got to stop.” The Mirror tracked down courier Steve McCarthy, 31, who bought the £29.99 toy from Argos in … [Read more...] about Toy maker changes Baa Baa Black Sheep lyrics to ‘Baa Baa Sheep Sheep’ as critics blast ‘politically correct nonsense’

MORE than 1,000 holidaymakers were left stranded on the Gili islands today in shocking Dunkirk-style scenes after a "massive" earthquake ripped through the paradise getaway last night. Shocking footage showed a mad scramble to board tiny boats off Gili Trawangan in the wake of the magnitude-7 quake which killed 142 and injured more than 200 across Bali and Lombok. Celebs including Take That star Gary Barlow and model Chrissy Teigen were among the thousands of tourists caught up in horror scenes on the idyllic Indonesian islands. British teacher James Kelsall, 28, described scenes of utter chaos on nearby Gili Trawangan where Navy officers allegedly kicked locals to stop them climbing on boats. Kelsall, from Woodford Green in London, said more than holidaymakers were stranded on the palm-fringed island off the coast of Lombok for more than six hours today. Nebraska signee Cam Jones is a big hitter and even bigger talker. Spend a day with the ‘baddest thing walking’
MANSFIELD, Texas — Cam Jones won’t stop talking. He likes talking. He’s good at it. Teachers at Mansfield High School like when Jones talks. He raises his hand often. He’s never short on participation points. At lunch most days, Jones doesn’t even eat. Just talks. Here on the Mansfield turf after track practice on a windy March evening, the Nebraska signee isn’t ready to go home. “I got like, girl hair. I can do it all sort of ways,” he says, picking at his long curls blowing in the breeze. He then switches topics, as he tends to do. “Let’s get some tacos.”He hops in Corbin Frederick’s jet-black Ford Raptor, and Frederick, a soon-to-be preferred walk-on at Nebraska, tears out of the high school parking lot and merges onto U.S. Highway 287, heading away from the setting 6 p.m. sun.“Ever heard of Gunna? This guy goes hard,” Jones says, pulling out his phone and plugging it into the … [Read more...] about Nebraska signee Cam Jones is a big hitter and even bigger talker. I never thought about gambling.”The principal lectured Kohll and his class about the error of his ways. Kohll says he has learned his lesson. “It’s not OK to gamble,” he tells the newspaper. “It’s like, illegal, sort … [Read more...] about Enterprising Fifth Grader Organizes School Bracket, Learns Gambling Is ‘Illegal, Sort Of’
The allure of the AR-15: “I know I don’t need it,” says one recent buyer, but that’s not the point
Fabian Rodriguez was cradling his new rifle when he stopped at one of the gun-show booths to purchase a $5 chicken fajita MRE. The “Meal Ready to Eat” is a mainstay for troops on combat missions. But Rodriguez, a 28-year-old San Antonio native who sells auto paint for a living, wasn’t going anywhere that would require one. “I like them,” he said. “Well, I like watching reviews of them. That’s something people do online, like, open them up and do taste tests.” Rodriguez, who wears his handlebar mustache slicked into points and never leaves home without his cowboy boots, had come to the gun show to buy his first AR-15, a variant model of the M-16 and M-4 assault rifles that are used by the military, and currently the most popular rifle on the market. It has been only a few weeks since a 19-year-old was accused of storming into a Florida high school with his AR-15 and shooting 34 people, killing half – the latest in a recent spate of … [Read more...] about The allure of the AR-15: “I know I don’t need it,” says one recent buyer, but that’s not the point
