President Donald Trump's approval rating went up two percentage points from last week to 40 percent, according to the latest Gallup poll released Monday. Fifty-five percent of respondents disapprove of the president's performance. Trump's 38 percent approval last week was tied for his lowest rating in the poll since last February. Trump's worst point ever in Gallup polling is 35 percent. The survey included 1,500 adults nationwide and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The poll comes at the end of a controversial week for Trump, who announced the withdrawal of all American troops from Syria and is reportedly planning a major reduction in the U.S. presence in Afghanistan, The Hill reported. This prompted the resignation of Defense Secretary James Mattis, who disagreed with the decision. The president's demand for $5 billion in funding for a southern border wall also led to a partial government shutdown, which began Saturday and shows no signs of reaching … [Read more...] about Gallup Poll: Trump’s Approval Rating Edges Up to 40 Percent

Donald Trump Approval Rating Equals All-Time Low As Americans Blame Him for Government Shutdown: Poll
U.S. The government shutdown stemming from President Donald Trump's demand for border wall funding has damaged his approval rating further to equal his all-time low. A three-day Morning Consult survey that started two hours before some government agencies shut down found that only 39 percent of registered voters approved of Trump's job performance. That figure included 80 percent of Republicans. The majority of respondents across party identifications, 56 percent—including 90 percent of Democrats and 57 percent of independents—did not approve of his performance, the poll released on Wednesday showed. Trump's 39 percent approval rating matches the lowest point of his popularity in August 2017, when he condemned "many sides" for the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where a white nationalist drove a car into a group of protesters, resulting in the death of Heather Heyer and causing injuries to 19 others. Less than half of Americans approve of the way the U.S. Supreme Court is doing its job, according to a new Gallup poll.Forty-six percent of those polled said they approve of the Supreme Court’s job, down 5 percentage points from last year and 15 percentage points from 2009, according to a press release and Politico. This year’s 46 percent rating is the second lowest since 2000; the lowest approval rating was 42 percent in 2005.The drop could be due to a broader distrust of government in general, Gallup says.Republicans and Democrats have similar approval ratings of the court (50 percent and 46 percent respectively), but Democrats’ approval has plummeted in the last few years.
