President Donald Trump celebrated the “Cajun Navy,” a group of citizen volunteers who traveled to rescue citizens from the wrath of Hurricane Florence. “We love the Cajun Navy – THANK YOU!” Trump wrote on Twitter on Friday, sharing a video of the group.The Cajun Navy was formed after Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana in 2005. They also rescued hundreds of victims in the 2017 hurricane season in Texas during Hurricane Harvey. About 1,000 volunteers traveled up to the Carolinas to help with victims of Hurricane Florence. Many volunteers of the Cajun Navy participated in the rescue of hundreds of citizens who were caught by rising tides in New Bern, North Carolina. Todd Terrell, founder and president of the United Cajun Navy, spoke to National Public Radio on Friday about their efforts. I love strawberries and kiwi, “very berry” blends, and Jamba Juice’s new watermelon drinks. But all of them might be gone with the disappearance of our bee populations. We depend on honeybees to produce so many crops, from the sweetest of fruits to the alfalfa our cows eat. Yet 30 percent of our bee colonies are killed off each season by pesticides, particularly a class of insecticides called neonicotinoids. Pesticide manufacturing companies turn a blind eye, for these neonicotinoids rake in billions of dollars for them globally. Output from the company’s factory in the state of Puebla will end in July 2019. VW has been pulling the Beetle from select markets as part of a broader effort by the German giant to rein in its bloated product range, which spans more than 300 different vehicles and variants, including heavy trucks, motorbikes and passenger cars. Cutting back on product complexity is one of the key means by which the company is trimming costs and getting leaner in the wake of its diesel emissions scandal.
