The 40-year-old Frenchman, Ouissem Medouni, turned to co-defendant Sabrina Kouider and said "you put her head under the water", before being called to order by the judge at London's Old Bailey court. "She's a very strong woman, she can do that," he told jurors. Medouni claims that nanny Sophie Lionnet died on the night of September 18th, 2017, after the couple had conducted a partially-filmed interview with her in their south-west London home. Kouider, 35, was convinced that the victim had conspired against her with one of Kouider's former boyfriends -- Mark Walton, a former member of Irish band Boyzone. Kouider alleged that Walton had recruited Lionnet to spy on her in exchange for money and the promise of "fame". The fire brigade found her charred remains in the couple's garden on September 20th after neighbours called, concerned by the thick smoke and smell. Medouni admitted having "put a little pressure" on Lionnet by questioning her but denied the accusations of Kouider's … [Read more...] about London nanny murder suspect accuses partner of drowning victim

London Marathon could be hottest on record
News / UK and world by Press Association April 21, 2018, 12:01 pm FacebookTwitterLinkedInWhatsAppEmail Sign up to our Daily newsletter This year’s London Marathon could be the hottest on record as the Met Office warns it will feel very warm for the runners on the capital’s streets. In 1996 a highest temperature of 22.7C (72.8F) was set at the annual event, and it looks as though the record which was set 22 years ago could be under threat. Following a 29.1C (84.3F) record-breaking hottest April day for 70 years on Thursday, Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge said the mercury could rise up to 22C or 23C at weather stations in the capital on Sunday. “But a big caveat here is obviously a weather station temperature record will feel a bit different to what it might feel like trackside where you have the warmth coming up from the tarmac and other people,” he told the Press Association. “Trackside temperatures will probably feel even warmer … [Read more...] about London Marathon could be hottest on record

A CGI image showing what Anglia Square could look like at night. Picture: Weston Homes Weston Homes The 25-storey tower proposed as part of the revamp of Anglia Square will put Norwich’s skyline at risk and would be better suited to London’s Docklands. That’s the view of the Council for British Archaeology, which has lodged an objection to the ambitious plans for the shopping complex. Housebuilder Weston Homes, along with landowner Columbia Threadneedle, are hoping to build the residential tower in Anglia Square. It is part of a larger redevelopment of the site, which would include up to 1,250 new homes, dozens of shops, a 200-bed hotel, 600-space car park and pedestrianised areas. But the tower has been one of the most contentious elements of the plans. The Norwich Society says it will be too high and the Council for British Archaeology (CBA), a charity founded in 1944, has added its opposition. Bob Sydes, listed buildings caseworker, has written to Norwich City … [Read more...] about Anglia Square tower is better suited to London Docklands, says charity
GM McKenzie: Raiders intend to keep ‘normal routine’ before London game
By Matt Kawahara Published 4:12 pm, Friday, April 20, 2018 The Raiders don’t intend to spend much time in London before their Oct. 14 game against the Seahawks, general manager Reggie McKenzie said Friday. McKenzie said the Raiders’ tentative plan is to practice in Alameda that week and fly in a few days before the game rather than spend an entire week abroad. “We’re trying to not make it as hard,” McKenzie said. “We want to keep it fairly simple for the players and go through the normal routine as much as possible.” The Raiders last played in London in 2014. That time, they played at New England the weekend before, flew directly across the Atlantic and were in London for a full week. This year, McKenzie said, the Raiders actually requested a home game the week before the trip. Instead, they’ll play the Chargers in Los Angeles on Oct. 7, still on the West Coast. “We would’ve liked to have been home,” McKenzie … [Read more...] about GM McKenzie: Raiders intend to keep ‘normal routine’ before London game
