Former U.S. President Donald Trump has described how his country is facing the issues of “socialism” and “communism” in his surprise address to CPAC Hungary. In a surprise address to the conservative CPAC conference taking place in Hungary on Friday, former U.S. President Donald Trump described how both his nation and the world were facing the issues of “socialism” and “communism”. Trump also took the opportunity to praise Viktor Orbán, the political leader of the host nation, who had addressed the conference only the day before. In a video message shown at CPAC Hungary, the 45th President of the United States lauded Orbán as a “good man and he’s done a fantastic job for his country”, lauding the Hungarian leader’s win as a “very big election result”. Half of European Buyers of Russian Energy Have Opened Ruble Accounts
Around half of the European customers of Russian energy giant Gazprom have opened euro-ruble accounts, according to Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Novak has claimed that half of the 54 companies across Europe that buy natural gas from Gazprom have opened a “k account” — a scheme that allows companies to get around Western sanctions and effectively pay for gas in rubles. “Moscow will make them known and that of the 54 companies, including large, medium, and small, that have contracts with Gazprom about half of them have already opened accounts, one in foreign currency and one in rubles,” Novak said, promising to name the companies, Il Giornale reports . The banking scheme allows companies to deposit euros or dollars. Gazprombank then converts them into rubles and places the rubles in a separate account owned by the purchaser, which is used to buy Russian gas. Natural gas prices rose after Russia said it would no longer send … [Read more...] about Half of European Buyers of Russian Energy Have Opened Ruble Accounts
UK Conservative Govt Looks to Raise Legal Smoking Age to 21
The legal age of smoking tobacco in Britain could reportedly be raised to 21 years old under the latest nanny state move from the country’s nominally Conservative government. In the hopes of transitioning the United Kingdom into a smoke-free nation by the end of the decade, a “radical” review commissioned by Health Secretary Sajid Javid could see the government recommend raising the legal age of smoking from 18 to 21. Though 18-year-olds are legally allowed to vote and indeed to serve in the nation’s armed forces, Javid, who quit smoking upon his appointment as Health Secretary last year, supports imposing new limits on tobacco, The Telegraph reports . The British broadsheet, which is closely connected to the Tory government, claimed that the report — which is expected to be published within the coming weeks — will also advocate for wider proliferation of vapes and other electronic cigarettes as well as increased taxes on the profits of tobacco companies. Is there a monkeypox vaccine? What are the symptoms and how many UK cases are there now?
Monkeypox cases continue to rise in the UK and some have even been found outside of London. Thankfully, it has a low transmission rate , meaning the spread of infection is remarkably slow. It is also hard to catch, but the NHS is still warning people to report early signs of infection. Typically, there is a one- to two-week window after first contact before symptoms start to show, though this is sometimes as late as three weeks. It has led to the hope that a vaccine is on the way to stop the spread quickly and effectively. There is good news, but the UK is far behind in the process. Is there a vaccine for monkeypox? W.H.O. Joins Chorus Warning About Monkeypox: ‘There Will be More Cases’
The World Health Organization (W.H.O.) on Saturday added its voice to the growing chorus warning about the rise in monkeypox infections, saying it expects more cases to emerge after a handful were detected in the U.S. and Europe. “The situation is evolving and W.H.O. expects there will be more cases of monkeypox identified as surveillance expands in non-endemic countries,” the W.H.O. said in a statement addressing the outbreak. Twelve W.H.O. member states have reported cases of monkeypox since May 13, according to the agency. The infections, however, do not have established travel connections to endemic areas. The W.H.O. has record of 92 confirmed monkeypox cases and 28 suspected infections globally as of Saturday, with Israel the latest to report a second confirmed infection. Australian health officials report their first confirmed case of monkeypox, diagnosed in a traveler who recently returned from Britain. https://t.co/gbj1knlJJs — Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) … [Read more...] about W.H.O.
