Liz Cheney Torches Trump on Fox News

January 7, 2022 by www.thedailybeast.com

It speaks volumes about the state of conservative politics in 2022 America that the sight of Liz Cheney on Fox News Thursday afternoon was genuinely surprising. The Republican congresswoman appeared from Capitol Hill with Bret Baier—the network’s last remaining anchor even capable of delivering “straight” news after Chris Wallace’s recent departure —and did not hesitate to tear into former President Donald Trump for his leadership role in inciting the insurrection one year earlier. After praising speeches marking the anniversary from President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris earlier in the day, Cheney quickly pivoted to attacking Trump. “This was a mob that was summoned by and provoked by the president of the United States in an effort to stop the counting of electoral votes, which is a Constitutional process,” she said, explaining how the events of January 6 were different from the outside threats that hit America in the cases of 9/11 or Pearl Harbor . … [Read more...] about Liz Cheney Torches Trump on Fox News

Dick Cheney Fixates on Donald Trump in Liz Cheney’s Campaign Ad

August 4, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Thursday rushed to the defense of his daughter’s downward-trending Republican primary campaign by releasing an ad that showed their obsession with former President Donald Trump. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who is down in the polls by about 30 points and heavily predicted to lose the August 16 primary, published an ad starring her father, Dick Cheney, that did not mention her competitor, Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman, but rather focused on Trump. Dick Cheney claimed: In our nations 246 year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He’s a coward, a real man wouldn’t lie to his supporters. He lost the election and he lost big. I know it, he knows it. And deep down, I think most Republicans know it. Dick Cheney then claimed that his daughter’s obsession with Trump is “doing what’s right” by “honoring her oath” to the Constitution “when so many in our party are too scared to do … [Read more...] about Dick Cheney Fixates on Donald Trump in Liz Cheney’s Campaign Ad

Establishment Uniparty Deploys Last-Ditch Tactics to Save Liz Cheney

August 5, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

Establishment Republicans are trying to save Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from defeat in the highly contested August 16 GOP primary by deploying last-ditch tactics to stave off a Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman victory. While Hageman is ahead in the polls and predicted to win by a large margin, big-money donors and grassroots organizers from the establishment uniparty are working to rescue Cheney’s campaign, Axios reported . That campaign  has been in a downward spiral since she allied herself with the partisan January 6 Committee. Those involved in defending Cheney are reportedly Jeff Larson, chairman of America Rising, Julia Griswold Dailer, a former Trump White House aide, Wyomingites Defending Freedom and Democracy (WDFD), and Conservatives for a Strong America (CFSA). WDFD is focused on publishing digital and TV ads that push Democrats to vote for Cheney in the open Republican primary, a tactic that has also been deployed by Cheney’s own campaign but which Joseph Barbuto, the … [Read more...] about Establishment Uniparty Deploys Last-Ditch Tactics to Save Liz Cheney

Liz Cheney’s chances of beating Hageman with 10 days to primary: Polls

August 6, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Representative Liz Cheney , a Wyoming Republican, aims to fend off a challenge from GOP opponent Harriet Hageman, who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump , but with just 10 days until the primary election, polls show the incumbent Republican in a difficult position. Cheney drew Trump's anger after she led nine other House Republicans in voting to impeach him last year for inciting his supporters to attack the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Since then, the congresswoman has been one of the ex-president's harshest critics , while also condemning fellow Republicans who continue to align with him. Last September, Trump endorsed Hageman , an attorney and former Republican National Committee (RNC) member, in her bid to unseat Cheney, who has represented Wyoming's at-large district since 2017. Although the incumbent Republican managed to rake in nearly $3 million in campaign contributions during the most recent fundraising quarter alone, Hageman appears to have a … [Read more...] about Liz Cheney’s chances of beating Hageman with 10 days to primary: Polls

Liz Cheney would rather work with Democrats than Marjorie Taylor Greene

August 8, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Representative Liz Cheney admits she would rather work with her Democratic colleagues in the House than some of the far-right conservatives who have remained staunch allies of former President Donald Trump . In an interview with The New York Times , Cheney said she would "much rather serve with Mikie Sherrill and Chrissy Houlahan and Elissa Slotkin than Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert , even though on substance certainly I have big disagreements with the Democratic women I just mentioned." "But they love this country, they do their homework and they are people that are trying to do the right thing for the country," she said of Sherrill, Houlahan and Slotkin, who are all Democrats . The congresswoman also extended her skepticism of top Republicans to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis , who she said she "would find it very difficult" to support in 2024 because he "has lined himself up almost entirely with Donald Trump, and I think that's very dangerous." … [Read more...] about Liz Cheney would rather work with Democrats than Marjorie Taylor Greene

Two House Democrats Release Ads Supporting Liz Cheney in Wyoming

August 9, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

Two vulnerable representatives, Dean Phillips (D-MN) and Tom Malinowski (D-NJ), released ads targeting Wyoming Democrats to “temporarily” switch parties and vote for Republican Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) in the primary next week. The two Democrats are doing this as she is one of former President Trump’s primary targets this cycle and is facing a tough challenger, Harriet Hageman, whom the former president backs. Donald Trump with Harriet Hageman of Wyoming (inset) (Joe Raedle/Getty; hagemanforwy/Instagram) “You might be a little surprised that I’d be supporting Liz Cheney in her bid to continue representing Wyoming in the U.S. House, but principle must always come before politics, and nobody has shown more honor, integrity, and courage than she,” Phillips said in a new ad. He added, “So I ask you to please consider temporarily switching parties and voting for Liz Chenery on or by August sixteenth. You’ll be sending a very clear message to Donald Trump.” The ads … [Read more...] about Two House Democrats Release Ads Supporting Liz Cheney in Wyoming

Steve Bannon attacks Dick Cheney, criticizes his “demon seed”

August 5, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Steve Bannon has hit out at Dick Cheney and his "demon seed" daughter, Wyoming rep. Liz Cheney , after the former vice president called Donald Trump the greatest "threat to our republic" in its history. Bannon, a former White House adviser, was reacting to the campaign ad released by Dick Cheney attacking Trump over his false claims that the 2020 Election was rigged and calling him a "coward." Posting on Gettr, Bannon accused the man who was VP under George W. Bush of being a "war criminal"—in reference to his role in the Iraq War and claims at that time that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction—while suggesting his daughter will lose her upcoming primary. "Dick Cheney is a war criminal..lied to the American people and brought nothing but death and destruction to Iraq ....Cheney's demon seed will be destroyed at the polls by the good folks in Wyoming... and then we will be done with them," Bannon wrote. Bannon made the remarks while awaiting sentencing after … [Read more...] about Steve Bannon attacks Dick Cheney, criticizes his “demon seed”

Trump calls Dick Cheney “great guy” in video resurfaced after “coward” ad

August 6, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Former President Donald Trump called former Vice President Dick Cheney a "great guy" in a video that resurfaced after he blasted Trump as a "coward" in a reelection campaign ad for his daughter, Representative Liz Cheney . Representative Cheney, a Wyoming Republican, emerged as one of Trump's top GOP critics following the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol building when a mob of Trump supporters, motivated by unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud, rioted to block Congress from certifying President Joe Biden 's electoral victory. Cheney was one of 10 House Republicans to vote to impeach Trump for his alleged role for inciting the riot and is one of two Republicans to sit on the committee investigating the insurrection. Her sharp rebuke of the ex-president has appeared to invoke the ire of Trump and GOP voters in her district, with Trump endorsing her GOP primary challenger, attorney Harriet Hageman. Cheney released a new campaign ad this week featuring her … [Read more...] about Trump calls Dick Cheney “great guy” in video resurfaced after “coward” ad

Dick Cheney critics call hypocrisy as he blasts Donald Trump in new ad

August 4, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Critics are chastising former Vice President Dick Cheney on Twitter , alleging hypocrisy after he released a political ad denouncing former President Donald Trump as the biggest "threat" in U.S. history. Cheney appeared in the video released on Thursday by the campaign of his daughter, Wyoming U.S. Representative Liz Cheney , who faces a stiff primary challenge after becoming one of Trump's top Republican enemies for admonishing him over false claims of a "stolen" 2020 presidential election and his actions on January 6, 2021. In the video, the former vice president made it clear that he agrees with his daughter while urging Wyoming voters to see the primary as a referendum on Trump and his election lies. "There has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump," Dick Cheney says in the video. "He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He's a coward, a real … [Read more...] about Dick Cheney critics call hypocrisy as he blasts Donald Trump in new ad

Open primary may save Trump’s GOP targets in Washington

August 4, 2022 by www.sfgate.com

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The two Republican members of Congress from Washington who drew interparty challenges due to their vote to impeach former President Donald Trump were leading other Republicans in the state’s top two primary Wednesday. Under Washington’s primary system, all candidates run on the same ballot, and the top two vote getters in each of Tuesday’s races advance to the November election, regardless of party — a system observers say may have helped the GOP incumbents in Washington who had been targeted by Trump. In early returns, Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler and Dan Newhouse looked as they may advance to the general election with a Democratic candidate in each of their races. Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez was the top vote getter in the 3rd Congressional District, with 32% of the vote and advanced to the November ballot. Herrera Beutler had under 24%. Joe Kent – a former Green Beret endorsed by Trump who faced significant spending against him from another … [Read more...] about Open primary may save Trump’s GOP targets in Washington
