Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Saudi Arabia’s leadership on Tuesday and said he stressed the need for a comprehensive investigation into the disappearance of activist Jamal Khashoggi. Pompeo met with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, who “strongly denied any knowledge of what took place in their consulate in Istanbul,” according to a news release issued by the State Department. TOKYO -- Doomsday cult leader Shoko Asahara and several followers were executed Friday for their roles in a deadly 1995 gas attack on the Tokyo subways and other crimes, Japanese media reported. Thirteen people died in the attack, while more than 6,000 were sickened with symptoms that included being blinded or paralyzed. The Justice Ministry said it could not confirm the reports, which cited unidentified sources. On March 20, 1995, members of the cult left punctured bags filled with liquid nerve agent on train lines going through Tokyo's political district. The toxin struck victims down in a matter of seconds, leaving them choking and vomitting, BBC News reports. RAMALLAH, West Bank -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' doctor said Sunday that the 83-year-old will be staying another day in the hospital, abruptly reversing a previous announcement that he would be discharged and adding to the uncertainty surrounding the Palestinian leader's health. Abbas was hospitalized last week with a fever, just days after undergoing ear surgery. Palestinian officials said he had pneumonia and was on a respirator, receiving antibiotics intravenously. Abbas allies insisted he was in good health, but day after day he remained hospitalized. On Sunday, his doctor, Yasser Abu Safiyeh said that Abbas would be discharged later in the day after being kept a few extra days in hospital as a precaution "to avoid any setback that could be caused by any infection."
