A 77-year-old man died in Wisconsin this week after a drawbridge he was walking across opened up, according to police. Milwaukee Police said the man, whose name has not been released, was reportedly from Providence, Rhode Island, and he had been walking across the Kilbourne Avenue Bridge in downtown Milwaukee on Monday afternoon. But as the man walked across the Milwaukee River, the bridge started to go up, which in turn caused the man to fall. According to local ABC affiliate, WISN 12, police said the man died at the scene. He had been on the southwest corner of the bridge at the time of the incident. In a statement sent to the outlet, the Milwaukee Department of Public Works (MDP) said the bridge is controlled by a remote operator. According to the MDP, the operator works in a bridge house on Water Street and uses a video to monitor the remotely operated Kilbourne Avenue Bridge.
