ENERGY AND CLIMATE DEBATEThe Senate is scheduled to take up the much-anticipated Shaheen-Portman energy efficiency legislation (S. 2262) early this week, potentially coupled with another vote on the Keystone XL pipeline. It remains unclear what form a Keystone vote would take, with supporters aiming for a binding provision rather than a sense of the Senate resolution. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), who filed for cloture on the efficiency package late in the day May 1, was optimistic last week that the chamber could strike a deal on a pipeline vote. Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) said yesterday that he expects the Senate to vote on the efficiency measure tomorrow morning, followed by a standalone Keystone XL vote.Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Rob Portman (R-OH) remain mum about what amendments will get a vote, but two are drawing major attention. ENERGY AND CLIMATE DEBATEImmigration, student loans, the budget, and the Farm bill, are the top four issues that Congress will consider before the August recess. That being said, President Obama’s recent climate change strategy release ensures that energy and environmental issues will remain on the agenda for the next month. For all of its supporters and detractors, global skepticism persists over America’s ability to lead climate change efforts. While not part of the June proposal, the president’s proposed $2 billion Energy Security Trust has been the subject of debate as congressional Republicans are claiming the White House has yet to reach out to them about it.The House will have two major energy issues to consider over the next month: the Farm Bill and the FY14 Energy and Water Development Bill. Trump’s iPhone is reportedly being tapped by Chinese spies as part of wider lobbying effort
Frustrated current and former US officials warned that President Donald Trump's personal Apple iPhone is being monitored by Chinese spies, according to The New York Times.Chinese spies are believed to have discovered who Trump regularly speaks to and was part of a wider lobbying effort to influence Trump's friends and business associates.Trump reportedly has two iPhones that the National Security Agency programmed for official use, but he is known to keep a third, personal phone that remains unaltered.One of the two official phones is designated for calls.
