Matt Fitzpatrick earns Tiger Woods comparisons and is tipped for major legacy
Matt Fitzpatrick has been predicted to win many more majors after picking up his first at the US Open on Sunday. The Sheffield star won the US Open in Brookline, Massachusetts, finishing six under par, one shot ahead of Will Zalatoris and Scottie Scheffler who tied for second. The victory saw the 27-year-old become just the third Englishman in the last 90 years to win the title, after Tony Jacklin in 1970 and Justin Rose in 2013. And after witnessing Fitzpatrick’s success, former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley has tipped the world number 10 to go onto create a major legacy, with his passion for the game mirroring that of icon Tiger Woods . "There are very few players you see that have that obsession with the game to the extent that Tiger Woods had it and Faldo had it but I see it in this guy as well," the Irishman said, as quoted by the Daily Mail . "Everything about his life revolves around his dedication to the game. I know it’s easy to get giddy over players … [Read more...] about Matt Fitzpatrick earns Tiger Woods comparisons and is tipped for major legacy
Matt Fitzpatrick echoes Tiger Woods in firm stance against Saudi breakaway series
English golf star Matt Fitzpatrick has echoed the opinion of golf legend Tiger Woods , after making the decision to decline a mega-money switch to the LIV Invitational Golf Series in search of ‘legacies and trophies’. The Saudi-backed series led by former world No. 1 Greg Norman has sent shockwaves around the world of golf in recent months, as it looks to lure some of the sport’s biggest names away from the DP World and PGA Tours. After plenty of speculation the entry list for the breakaway circuit’s inaugural event at Centurion Club was released on Wednesday ahead of the first tee off next week. The likes of Dustin Johnson, Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia were all included, but one man who was not on the list is Fitzpatrick. The Sheffield-born star has announced himself as one of the world’s best over the past few seasons, picking up seven European Tour titles and two Ryder Cup call-ups all whilst only being 27. When the offer from Norman and his team came calling … [Read more...] about Matt Fitzpatrick echoes Tiger Woods in firm stance against Saudi breakaway series
Why is Tiger Woods not playing at the US Open after making remarkable comeback?
Tiger Woods was set to participate in the 2022 US Open this week, but the iconic golfer withdrew from the third major of the year to focus on recovery from his horrific car crash in February 2021. The US Open begins today at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. As a three-time winner of the event, Woods has made a number of sporadic appearances on the PGA Tour this year after he completed his unbelievable comeback from the crash he suffered in Los Angeles. He suffered comminuted open fractures to both the tibia and fibula in his right leg after losing control of his vehicle. The 46-year-old spent three weeks receiving medical attention and even reportedly faced potential amputation. Tiger Woods rejected almost $1bn to join rebel Saudi golf league, reveals Greg Norman
Greg Norman has revealed that Tiger Woods has turned down a figure just short of $1 billion to join his Saudi-backed golf tour. One of the most divisive episodes in the history of the sport took a dramatic turn on Monday when it was confirmed that Phil Mickleson had signed up to be the poster boy of Norman's revolution . The six-time major champion will now play in the tour's inaugural event at The Centurion Club at St Albans this week. It will be his first event since announcing an indefinite break from the sport in January , following comments where he described the state of Saudi Arabia as 'scary motherf*****s'. That was despite initially accusing the PGA Tour of 'obnoxious greed'. As a result, he missed the US Masters and last month's US PGA, despite being defending champion. And now, the American accepting a deal to join the rebel circuit represents a seismic capture for Norman. However, the Australian has admitted he failed in a bid to attract the most … [Read more...] about Tiger Woods rejected almost $1bn to join rebel Saudi golf league, reveals Greg Norman

‘Only Murders in the Building’ Shines With Selena Gomez’s Career-Best Work in Season 2: Review
Click here to read the full article. “ Only Murders in the Building ” was a surprising triumph last year — a comedy whose amiable, low-key wit built in power as its first season ran on. With fine work by Steve Martin , Martin Short and Selena Gomez at the center, it added up to a portrait of disaffected and alienated people. In its second outing, “Only Murders” no longer has its element of surprise: We know what it can do. But that’s the only thing this show has lost. With its rococo details of life in a New York doorman-building overlaying careful and meticulous construction, the Hulu whodunit comedy is as strong as ever in its second outing. After months and months of speculation Mickelson officially confirmed his intention to join the contentious Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series ahead of this week’s inaugural event. Moment Hideki Matsuyama is booted out of Memorial Tournament for illegal marking on club
Hideki Matsuyama was disqualified from a PGA Tour event for the first time in his career on Thursday after illegal markings were discovered on the face of his club. The 2021 Masters champion was three-over-par after passing the ninth hole of the Memorial Tournament when he was told his tournament was over. Organisers said images of Matsuyama's club face were shared online, and it was only after he had used it on the first tee that they learnt of the offence. "Unfortunately our committee learned right after Hideki had teed off that he may be carrying a club that would be non-conforming," said PGA Tour senior tournament director Steve Rintoul on Thursday. "There is a substance that has been applied to the face by a gentleman that works on Hideki's clubs. "Rule 4a(3) within the equipment rules speaks to applying a substance to the face could unduly affect the performance of a ball; the flight, the spin, all the performance of the ball." It's understood players can have … [Read more...] about Moment Hideki Matsuyama is booted out of Memorial Tournament for illegal marking on club
