POLITICS 11/09/2018 12:27 pm ET "I promise you I will give it a long hard thought of consideration," the New York Democrat said. By Alanna Vagianos Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) may or may not be preparing for a presidential run in 2020. Gillibrand stopped by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Thursday night to discuss her new children’s book Bold and Brave, the midterm elections and the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Toward the end of the conversation, Colbert asked the question on everyone’s mind. “I know you’ve been saying for a long time now that you don’t want to talk about 2020 because you’re concentrated on 2018,” Colbert said, while jokingly tapping his fingers on his desk. “Midterms are over — what are you concentrating on now? Is there another election that you might be concentrating on?” The senator took her time responding to the question, … [Read more...] about Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Teases Potential 2020 Presidential Bid To Stephen Colbert
Days before the midterm elections, New York Republican senatorial candidate Chele Farley has renewed her call for her opponent, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, to return or donate to charity over $806,000 that Gillibrand received from a law firm headed by Harvey Weinstein’s long-time attorney, close adviser and business investor. “She needs to return that money,” Farley told this reporter in an interview. “Otherwise she can’t call herself the #MeToo senator.”“Is she the #MeToo senator? No, I think she is the #MeFirst senator.” In August, Breitbart News reported that Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, the law firm headed by famed attorney David Boies, has been Gillibrand’s single largest campaign donor throughout her political career and at the time was the second-largest donor in the 2018 election cycle. The law firm has since become her top donor this election cycle, according to the most recent public election data. This year's race between Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand – a possible Democratic presidential candidate – and Republican Chele Farley looks, on the surface, like a mismatch. Don't tell that to Farley, who's running a spirited but underfunded race against one of the Democratic Party's rising stars. To hear Farley tell it, Gillibrand's national prominence is the very reason voters ought to throw her out of the Senate. "She's focused on raising her profile to run for president, but what I care about is that she hasn't accomplished anything for New York," Farley said. Gillibrand begs to differ. Her office churned out a 12-page list of accomplishments that she said would benefit the state, such as legislation boosting rural broadband, studying waterfront erosion on the Great Lakes and funding construction at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. "I think what voters understand about me is that I really understand upstate," she said. "I understand the issues," such as agriculture and … [Read more...] about Chele Farley an underdog to Sen. The Algemeiener reports: On Sunday night, Chele Farley will take the stage for a televised debate with her opponent, the incumbent New York Democratic Party Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, in what will be the best opportunity she has to persuade New York voters to do what they haven’t done in a generation: elect a Republican candidate to the US Senate. When Farley spoke with The Algemeiner on Friday morning, as she prepared for her showdown with Gillibrand, she was unfazed by suggestions that Capitol Hill veteran Gillibrand — who won a statewide record 72 percent of the vote in 2012, and who has served as the junior senator from New York since 2009 — was too formidable an opponent.“During her 12 years in DC (Gillbrand was first elected to the US Congress in 2006), she’s forgotten about the people of New York,” Farley charged. “She’s gotten one bill passed in that entire time. The people of New York needs someone who will fight for them, … [Read more...] about NY Senate Candidate Chele Farley: Kirsten Gillibrand ‘Has Turned Her Back on Israel’
