Anthrax confirmed in wild boars
Thiruvananthapuram The Health department has launched immediate control measures after anthrax was confirmed in wild boars in the forest area of Athirappilly, a statement issued by Health Minister Veena George said on Wednesday. The Departments of Animal Husbandry, Forest and Wildlife and Health had conducted an outbreak investigation after herds of wild boar were found dead in the forest region. An examination of the samples collected from the dead animals confirmed the presence of Bacillus anthracis , the bacterium which causes anthrax. People can get sick with anthrax if they come in contact with infected animals or contaminated animal products. The Health department is closely observing those people who buried the animal carcasses and giving them necessary medical care. Bacillus anthracis occurs naturally in soil and commonly affects domestic and wild animals. Korean firm Mando inks MoU with Guidance Tamil Nadu and DoTE
A tripartite MoU was inked between Guidance Tamil Nadu, Korean firm Mando and the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) in the presence of Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudi on Wednesday. Mando is engaged in manufacture and sale of automotive components and, more particularly, suspension, brakes and steering part to automotive OEMs in India. According to details provided by Guidance Tamil Nadu, which is instrumental in bringing in investments into the State, the MoU enables Mando to be the industrial partner for DoTE in launching two new sandwich polytechnic programmes under automobiles and mechanical engineering in which over 130 students will be undergoing industrial internships at Mando for one year during their course. Most Arrested Islamic State Sympathisers Inspired by Zakir Naik, Says NIA
New Delhi : A majority of 127 arrested Islamic States sympathizers from across India were following speeches of fugitive televangelist and Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, NIA investigation has revealed. Among the 127 arrested in 28 cases since 2014, the highest (33) were arrested from Tamil Nadu followed by 19 from Uttar Pradesh, 17 from Kerala, 14 from Telangana, 12 from Mahrashtra, eight from Karnataka, seven from Delhi, four each from Uttarakhand and West Bengal and three from Jammu and Kashmir, according National Investigation Agency (NIA) data. The NIA has also arrested two people each from Rajasthan and Gujarat and one each from Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. In November 2014, the NIA registered the first jihadi terrorism case related to Islamic State and courts concerned have announced conviction in three of the cases in which charge sheet has been filed, said the agency.
