When Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited BJP corporators of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to New Delhi for an informal meeting this month, he sent out two messages. The first was to show that the BJP is a party which gives importance to grassroots leaders and that these leaders have access to the top leadership, in sharp contrast to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) where Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s official residence-cum-office is out of bounds for even his own ministers. The second was that the top leadership is serious about the 2023 Assembly elections in Telangana where it expects to mount a serious challenge to the TRS. Hyderabad lac bangles set to get GI tag
Hyderabad-based Creasent Handicraft Artisans Welfare Association has filed an application for securing a Geographical Indications tag for lac bangles that are manufactured in the city. The Geographical Indications Registry, Chennai has accepted the application on Thursday and the coveted tag may add to the lustre of the bangles which is a favourite of tourists and are part of the trousseau for brides from the city. The GI tag helps in easy identification of a product based on the area of production. It adds to the marketing muscle of the unique product. Hyderabad Haleem, Warangal Durries, Nirmal Toys and Karimnagar filigree, Pochampally Ikat are some of the other products that have secured the GI in Telangana state. “GI tag will pave a way to brand the Hyderabad Lac Bangles better in India and abroad. T-Hub 2.0 to host 4,000 startups, VC firms, eco-system partners
Tech startup incubator and innovation ecosystem enabler T-Hub’s second phase, a 3.70 lakh sqft, swanky, multi-storey structure in the heart of Hyderabad’s IT hub that is set to be inaugurated on Tuesday by Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao, will accommodate thousands of startups, various eco-system partners and provide space free of cost to venture capital firms. An initiative of Telangana government entailing ₹400-crore investment, T-Hub 2.0 will be the world’s largest innovation campus and has been conceived amid a growing demand for space from startups. It seeks to consolidate gains that the first phase — a 70,000 sqft facility that opened in 2015 at IIIT-Hyderabad — made through sharpening of focus.
