Poll: Majority Do Not Want Joe Biden to Run for Reelection in 2024

February 5, 2023 by www.breitbart.com

The majority of likely voters in the United States do not want President Joe Biden to run for reelection in 2024, a poll found on the eve of his State of the Union address. The Rasmussen Reports survey poll released Friday found that 56 percent of respondents do not want Biden to run for reelection, as he is past the halfway point of his presidency, and his State of the Union is set for this Tuesday. In comparison, 32 percent say he would run for a second term, while 12 percent are unsure. When looked at by party, 53 percent of Democrats said Biden should run for reelection in 2024, while only 17 percent of Republicans and 26 percent of independents said the same. In comparison, 76 percent of Republican respondents said he should not run for reelection, while 25 percent of Democrat and 51 percent of independent respondents said the same. This also comes as Biden — who would be 86 years old at the end of a second term — has still not officially announced whether he will run … [Read more...] about Poll: Majority Do Not Want Joe Biden to Run for Reelection in 2024

Biden’s Calls for Unity Are Already Being Tested in Congress

January 21, 2021 by www.nytimes.com

WASHINGTON — Back at the Capitol for his second inaugural in 1997, Bill Clinton delivered a blunt appeal to the hardened Republican majorities confronting him in Congress. “The American people returned to office a president of one party and a Congress of another,” Mr. Clinton told the lawmakers and the crowd gathered at the Capitol. “Surely they did not do this to advance the politics of petty bickering and extreme partisanship they plainly deplore.” Less than two years later, House Republicans impeached Mr. Clinton, suggesting his words were not exactly taken to heart. With varying degrees of success, presidents have used their inaugural addresses to appeal to the lawmakers they need to enact their agendas. President Biden was no exception on Wednesday, though he was less direct than Mr. Clinton. “To restore the soul and secure the future of America requires so much more than words. It requires the most elusive of all things in a democracy: Unity,” Mr. Biden said in remarks with … [Read more...] about Biden’s Calls for Unity Are Already Being Tested in Congress

Pete Buttigieg says Biden handled Chinese spy balloon ‘appropriately’ amid backlash from Republicans

close Video Biden speaks to press after Chinese spy balloon shot down Gen. Keith Kellogg weighs in on President Biden's remarks after U.S. fighter jets shot down the Chinese spy airship off the coast of South Carolina on 'Fox News Live.' Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Sunday defended President Biden's handling of the Chinese spy balloon that flew across the United States over the course of several days before the U.S. military shot it down Saturday, saying it was "handled appropriately." "As the U.S has communicated, it's not acceptable at all that China sent this object into our airspace, but in terms of how to handle it, that's something that was done based on assessment of the risks, making sure that there was no risk that outweighed the risks in terms of any damage that would come and it was handled appropriately," Buttigieg said on CNN's "State of the Union." He would go on to praise the mission to shoot down the Chinese … [Read more...] about Pete Buttigieg says Biden handled Chinese spy balloon ‘appropriately’ amid backlash from Republicans

‘It’s About Contempt For Voters’: Josh Hawley Criticizes Democrats’ Plans To Pack The Courts, Eliminate Filibuster

September 30, 2020 by dailycaller.com

Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley said Wednesday that packing the courts and abolishing the Senate filibuster is “about contempt for voters” and “would be a huge mistake.” Though Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden came out against court packing in August 2019, the issue again enjoyed center stage when he refused to take a stand in either direction, instead claiming his position would “be the issue.” Democrats like vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris have expressed an interest in the idea of late, particularly as a countermeasure to a Republican-led Senate looking to confirm President Donald Trump’s pick to fill the seat of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. After playing the debate exchange between Biden and Trump on court packing on “The Story,” Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum asked Hawley for his thoughts. WATCH: “First of all, it’s absolutely ridiculous,” Hawley responded. “The vice president should answer the question, but here’s the … [Read more...] about ‘It’s About Contempt For Voters’: Josh Hawley Criticizes Democrats’ Plans To Pack The Courts, Eliminate Filibuster
