The FBI 's raid of Donald Trump Mar-a-Lago home has sparked theories involving the release of texts by far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones . The former President confirmed that FBI agents had searched his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, on Monday. He released a statement condemning the act and said "nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before." It is not yet entirely clear the reason for the federal law enforcement's raid on Trump's home. However, it follows months of speculation that federal prosecutors had turned their attention to his actions regarding the riots that occurred on January 6. This raid comes after two years' worth of text message sent and received by Jones were turned over the House select committee investigating the January 6 riots. The text messages were handed over to the committee by Mark Bankston, who represented two Sandy Hook parents who successfully sued Jones in Texas and won almost $50 … [Read more...] about Trump raid hours after Alex Jones texts reportedly filed sparks theories

What FBI raid means for Trump, according to legal experts
Donald Trump could face years in prison and be banned from running for office again if he's found to have destroyed classified records, with legal experts suggesting the Department of Justice must have some "pretty rock-solid evidence" to approve the FBI raid at his home. Trump announced on Monday that his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida was "under siege, raided, and occupied " by federal agents taking part in an "unannounced raid." The FBI conducted the raid and searched for documents at Trump's home as part of an ongoing investigation into the former president's potentially unlawful removal and destruction of classified White House records after he left office in January 2021. The National Archives and Records Administration confirmed in February that it had found 15 boxes containing classified material in Trump's Mar-a-Lago home which had been taken from the White House. In a statement to Newsweek , trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani said the … [Read more...] about What FBI raid means for Trump, according to legal experts
Flag-waving Trump supporters protest outside Mar-a-Lago after FBI raid
Dozens of furious Donald Trump supporters gathered around Mar-a-Lago on Monday to protest the FBI raid on the former president's Florida home. The demonstrators gathered in two groups, right outside Mar-a-Lago and by a bridge leading into Palm Beach, where the luxury resort is located. Other Trump supporters drove around the area in vehicles decked out with patriotic regalia. A video , posted from the scene by Jayne Zirkle, a reporter for Steve Bannon 's War Room , shows one truck with a large Trump/Pence banner attached, but with "Pence" crossed out, reflecting Trump supporters' anger the former vice president didn't refuse to certify the 2020 election result. Pro-Trump protesters waved flags emblazed with slogans such as "Florida For Trump," "Trump 2024" and "Biden Is Not My President." Another demonstrator held up a large placard with the slogan, "Fake News is CNN ." The gathering was peaceful, though police did have to intervene after a counter-protester … [Read more...] about Flag-waving Trump supporters protest outside Mar-a-Lago after FBI raid
Historian explains 4 differences between Trump FBI raid and Watergate
The author of Watergate, A New History said there were differences between the scandal that brought down ex-president Richard Nixon and the reported FBI raid on Donald Trump 's Mar-a-Lago resort . After the former president said his Florida home had been raided by the FBI on Monday, journalist and historian Garrett M. Graff said that the operation was one of the "most significant, sensitive, and politically explosive actions" ever undertaken by the U.S. Justice Department and the agency. Graff's book, which was released in February 2022, details the Nixon administration's attempts to cover up its involvement in the 1972 break-in of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the Washington, D.C., Watergate Office Building . Faced with impeachment and removal from office, Nixon resigned on August 8, 1974. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department has commented on the reported search f Trump's property which took place on the 48th anniversary of Nixon's … [Read more...] about Historian explains 4 differences between Trump FBI raid and Watergate
“I made a Trump documentary, this is what he’s like behind-the-scenes”
A month after the 2020 Presidential election, I was in the White House, waiting to interview Donald Trump . He hadn't given any interviews throughout November, so I wasn't feeling particularly anxious because I didn't think he was going to turn up. Then, as we were setting up, we heard a Secret Service agent in the corridor say, "Mogul on the move," which was Trump's code name. I was like, "Oh my God, he's actually coming." I filmed a documentary on the Trump family from the end of August 2020 until the summer of 2021. We set out to understand who the Trumps were and what they wanted to achieve, through interviews with the family and staff. But what I love about documentaries is that you never know what's going to happen next. Our filming coincided with the 2020 election campaign, as well as the subsequent events of January 6, so that became the spine of the project. I experienced things that most people would never get a chance to experience—from traveling in the motorcade with … [Read more...] about “I made a Trump documentary, this is what he’s like behind-the-scenes”
FBI conducts ‘raid’ on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, former president says
WASHINGTON — Former President Trump said in a statement Monday that the FBI searched his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, in what he described as a “raid.” It was not immediately clear why agents searched his Palm Beach home and what was removed, but Trump said the property was “under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents.” He added that the agents broke open his safe. “After working and cooperating with the relevant government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” he said. A large-scale search of a former president’s home by federal law enforcement is unparalleled in American history, and while Republicans quickly decried the move as the politicization of the Justice Department, it demonstrates an extraordinary level of potential legal trouble for Trump. Executing a search requires the signoff of a federal judge, who issues a warrant based upon evidence of a potential crime. It is unlikely that such a high-profile … [Read more...] about FBI conducts ‘raid’ on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, former president says
Dispose of COVID-19 violation cases immediately: Delhi High Court
The Delhi High Court took the Delhi police to task for dragging a case of violation of COVID-19 guidelines for the past seven months, “when it ought not to have taken even seven days for disposal”, saying that the police’s actions “roused suspicions” and were a “colossal waste of time and human resources”. The High Court was hearing a petition by sporting goods company Decathlon, which sought quashing of an FIR lodged on December 30 last year after a police patrol party found one of its showrooms at Preet Vihar open, with 8-10 people standing near the reception, beyond the stipulated time of 8 p.m. Justice Asha Menon refused to quash the FIR noting that there was disobedience of the COVID-19 guidelines, but also questioned the Delhi police for dragging the case till now when the violation was in the nature of “petty offences”. The judge said the action of the police in issuing notice to employees of the company to appear at the Preet Vihar police station instead of sending the … [Read more...] about Dispose of COVID-19 violation cases immediately: Delhi High Court
David Axelrod On Trump Raid: ‘This Has Never Been Done In The History Of Our Country’
CNN’s David Axelrod said the political implications of the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump are “huge” while speaking Monday on CNN. CNN’s John Bermann asked Axelrod “what are the political possible perils?” of the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence. “Huge. I mean, this has never been done before in the history of this country, and so the idea that they would raid the home of a former president and search the home of a former president is obviously as big stakes as you can have. And, you know, Merrick Garland is a notoriously cautious person. He would not have authorized it unless they believed they had significant evidence that a crime had been committed, and a federal judge wouldn’t have signed off on it, they were aware of the stakes as well.” Axelrod said Attorney General Merrick Garland “understands … he has crossed a rubicon here.” (RELATED: Dan Bongino Goes Ballistic, Calls Trump Raid ‘Third World Bullshit’ Live On Fox News) “If you are going … [Read more...] about David Axelrod On Trump Raid: ‘This Has Never Been Done In The History Of Our Country’

In Defense of C. S. Lewis
The glistening citadel of this dateline does not in fact exist, but to children it can be more real than many an actual place: Cair Paravel is the capital of Narnia, the setting of what was, until Harry Potter, the world's best-selling fantasy series. The seven-volume Chronicles of Narnia , by the mid-century Irish writer C. S. Lewis, has some 65 million copies in print in thirty languages. In the books several English schoolchildren are transported to a realm where a human society modeled on the Arthurian court coexists with strange creatures, intelligent animals, and magic. Always the young visitors perform some improbable feat to rescue the kingdom from sinister forces. Presiding over events is Aslan, an enormous supernatural lion who called forth Narnia, loves English schoolchildren, and appears whenever hope seems lost. Although Narnia has survived countless perils, the Chronicles themselves are now endangered. On one front they face the dubious honor of corporate … [Read more...] about In Defense of C. S. Lewis
