Canada should capture the trade opportunity that India’s fast-growing economy provides, and become one of the biggest commercial partners of India in the next few years, a new report on Canada-India trade has said. The joint report brought out by the Business Council of Canada and the Canada India Business Council argues India is indispensable for Canada’s strategy in the Indo-Pacific region. “Canada has powerful incentives to diversify its trading relationships. The U.S., which accounts for the bulk of our trade, has become more protectionist in recent years — under both Democratic and Republican administrations. And our second largest trading partner, China, has become a much riskier place to do business amid deteriorating bilateral relations,” said the report titled “Why India: Unlocking Canada’s Opportunity in the Indo-Pacific”. India, US to Carry Out Mega Military Exercise in Uttarakhand’s Auli in October
India and the US will kick-start an over two-week-long mega military exercise in Uttarakhand's Auli in October amid the fast-evolving regional security scenario. The 18th edition of exercise "Yudh Abhyas" is scheduled to take place from October 14 to 31, sources in the defence and military establishment said on Wednesday. A number of complex drills are being planned for the mega exercise, they said. The last edition of the exercise took place in October last year in Alaska in the US. The sources said the exercise is aimed at enhancing understanding, cooperation and interoperability between the armies of India and the US. The "Yudh Abhyas" exercise is taking place in the backdrop of India's lingering border row with China in eastern Ladakh. The Indo-US defence ties have been on an upswing for the last few years. Delhi Skill University Signs Pact with ISS Facility Services India to Train Students
The Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) Friday signed an agreement with ISS Facility Services India to train students enrolled in the BBA (Facilities and Hygiene Management) programme. As part of this memorandum of understanding (MoU), the company will assist DSEU with curriculum advisory, faculty and staff development workshops, internships, and placement support along with six scholarships to high-performing and needy students, the ISS Group said. ISS India also opened a facility management lab at the DSEU campus which will complement the skill development process with the tools and technology required for the sector. The Maldives on August 2 signed a cyber security agreement with India as both sides affirmed bilateral will to strengthen ties to take on “transnational crimes and terrorism” in the Indian Ocean region. India and the 10-nation grouping ASEAN have "strong convergence" on Indo-Pacific, combating the threat of terrorism and the developments in Ukraine and Myanmar, External Affairs Minister S. Airbus, GMR ink pact for aircraft maintenance training
Aerospace major Airbus has signed a contract with aviation infrastructure developer GMR Group to provide aircraft maintenance training to engineers at the GMR School of Aviation in Hyderabad. In a release, Airbus said GMR will be offering a fully integrated Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licensing programme at the GMR School of Aviation. The four year course will include two years of classroom training and two-year training in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) at GMR Aero Technic here followed by Aircraft Type Training. As per the contract, Airbus will provide the necessary software and courseware in the form of trainee handbooks, examination database, online access of Airbus customised basic training modules and Airbus Competence Training (ACT) for Academy media package, which is the technical training material required for the courses. Airtel highlighted its long-standing relationship for connectivity and pan-India managed services with Ericsson and Nokia while stating that partnership with Samsung will begin this year onwards.
