The Biden administration is blaming Trump for the border crisis—while using his methods | Opinion

May 16, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

The U.S. is in the midst of an unprecedented surge in illegal border crossings. There have been nearly 1 million encounters at the southern border between the Department of Homeland Security and illegal immigrants. The only effective means of controlling this massive influx has been a Trump-era public health policy known as Title 42, which allowed DHS to expel migrants during the pandemic; since March 2020, nearly two million migrants have been turned away under Title 42 authority. But the Biden administration plans to lift Title 42 in just one week, a move that will open the floodgates, further exacerbating a crisis we are ill equipped to handle. Yet the Biden administration has someone found a way to blame President Trump for the mess at the border. In a 20-page plan for how to handle the crisis at the border after Title 42 is lifted, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas writes that he inherited a broken and dismantled immigration system—something Americans know is untrue by just … [Read more...] about The Biden administration is blaming Trump for the border crisis—while using his methods | Opinion

Biden Imports 35K Foreign Workers for U.S. Jobs, 12M Americans Jobless

May 16, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

President Joe Biden is subsidizing businesses with 35,000 more foreign H-2B visa workers to hire for non-agricultural jobs in the United States, even as nearly 12 million Americans remain jobless. On Monday, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that the administration would begin allowing businesses to hire up to 35,000 additional foreign H-2B visa workers for nonagricultural jobs in construction, hospitality, and landscaping. “This preemptive move by Mayorkas lets seasonal employers off the hook from recruiting Americans by offering better wages and working conditions,” Robert Law with the Center for Immigration Studies wrote . “Instead, the federal government will subsidize bad business models or simply further enrich employers by giving them access to more cheap foreign workers than otherwise would be allowed.” The administration announced months ago that they would help subsidize business by inflating the U.S. labor market even … [Read more...] about Biden Imports 35K Foreign Workers for U.S. Jobs, 12M Americans Jobless

“Great Replacement Theory” has inspired 4 mass shootings in recent years

May 16, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

A racist ideology is being investigated as the motivating factor in a supermarket massacre in Buffalo, New York, that left 10 people dead on Saturday. Authorities say Payton Gendron, a white 18-year-old from Conklin, New York, carried out an act of "racially motivated violent extremism" when he opened fire at the Tops Friendly Market. Most of the victims were Black. Authorities said they were investigating the attack, which the shooter livestreamed on Twitch until the company shut the broadcast down, as a potential federal hate crime or act of domestic terrorism. A 180-page manifesto , purportedly authored by Gendron, said the attack was motivated by the "Great Replacement Theory"—a racist conspiracy theory that claims white people are being replaced by minorities and people of color. The ideology fueled the deadly 2017 rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where white supremacists chanted "Jews will not replace us." The belief has also incited a string of mass killings in … [Read more...] about “Great Replacement Theory” has inspired 4 mass shootings in recent years

Who is Robert Bowers? Suspect identified in the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue shooting

October 27, 2018 by www.newsweek.com

Authorities identified Robert Bowers on Saturday afternoon as the suspect in connection with a morning shooting at the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that left at least eight people dead. A law enforcement official who identified Bowers as the suspect told the Associated Press he was in his 40s. Bowers was a known anti-Semite. About an hour before the shooting, Bowers wrote of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society on the social media site Gab: "HIAS likes to bring invaders in that kill our people. I can't sit by and watch my people get slaughtered. Screw your optics. I'm going in." His profile on the Twitter-like alt-right platform read, "jews are the children of satan. (john 8:44) --- the lord jesus christ is come in the flesh." Bowers's posts indicate he was not only anti-Jew, but also anti-President Donald Trump. "Trump is a globalist, not a nationalist," Bowers wrote. "There is no #MAGA as long as there is a kike infestation." In another … [Read more...] about Who is Robert Bowers? The importance of Lumbini

May 16, 2022 by www.thehindu.com

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lumbini, Nepal, though only for a few hours, is full of symbolism and substance. No Indian Prime Minister has visited Lumbini in the last few decades. Mr. Modi’s visit is a combination of personal desire and political and strategic goals. For him, it is the fulfilment of a wish articulated in 2014 when he first became Prime Minister. Since he could not travel to Lumbini during his previous visits to Nepal, as Ambassador, I planted, on his behalf, a sapling of the sacred Bodhi tree in the gardens of the Maya Devi temple where Gautama Buddha was born. Amid the strife and turmoil and the anger and hatred that we see in society, the Prime Minister’s visit also provides a moment for quiet reflection and a reiteration of the message of peace, compassion and non-violence preached by the Buddha and spread by the roaring lions in the four directions, as depicted in the Lion Capital of Ashoka, our national emblem — a message that calls for shunning … [Read more...] about The importance of Lumbini

Sabah leaders on both sides want illegals problem solved, says Kitingan

May 16, 2022 by www.thestar.com.my

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah leaders from both sides of the political divide want to resolve the problem of illegal immigrants and stateless people in Sabah. Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (pic) said all leaders, with the close cooperation with enforcement authorities, are working closely together to find a workable and acceptable solution to the problem. "However, the solution proposed by the Home Ministry to issue a document and call it 'kad warga asing' or 'foreign nationals' card' seems unacceptable to Sabahans. "Naming the document a 'non-citizen resident card' would be more acceptable because it immediately distinguishes these cardholders from genuine citizens," he said in a statement on Monday (May 16). On Saturday (May 14), Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said that Sabah leaders must have political will to resolve the illegal immigrants problem, and consider the proposal for the issuance of foreigner cards. Kitingan said the GRS-BN government … [Read more...] about Sabah leaders on both sides want illegals problem solved, says Kitingan

Justices limit federal court review of some deportations

May 16, 2022 by www.sfchronicle.com

WASHINGTON (AP) — A sharply divided Supreme Court on Monday ruled that federal courts are powerless to review immigration officials' decisions in some deportation cases, even when they have made what a dissenting justice called “egregious factual mistakes.” The court ruled 5-4 against Georgia resident Pankajkumar Patel, who checked a box indicating he was a U.S. citizen when renewing his Georgia driver’s license in 2008. An immigration judge, who is a Justice Department employee, concluded Patel intended to misrepresent his status for the purpose of getting his license, even though Georgia law entitled a noncitizen in Patel’s situation to a license to drive. Patel and his wife, Jyotsnaben, concede they entered the U.S. illegally roughly 30 years ago since leaving their native India. In 2007, Patel applied for a “green card,” legal permanent residency status, with the support of his employer. The Patels have three children. One is a U.S. citizen and the other two are green-card … [Read more...] about Justices limit federal court review of some deportations

Exclusive — Rep. Ted Budd: ‘Can’t Get More Radical’ Than Cheri Beasley

May 16, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

Leading Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in North Carolina Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) has barbs out for his potential Democrat competitor Cheri Beasley ahead of the primaries on Tuesday. Both Trump-endorsed Budd and former Chief Justice Beasley of the North Carolina Supreme Court are way ahead of their competitors within their respective parties, meaning the candidates may likely soon go head to head in a battle between the “America First” agenda and the Biden agenda in November. Budd warned Breitbart News Saturday that a candidate “cannot be more radical” than Beasley, despite her attempts to pitch herself as the “North Carolina version of  (Sen.) Joe Manchin” ( D-WV). “I can tell you, there is nothing further than the truth. She is a radical candidate. She loves Joe Biden’s radical policies, and she will stay with him even though she’ll find out ways to skip the vice president when she’s in town, skip the president when he’s in North Carolina — that’s for political … [Read more...] about Exclusive — Rep. Biden Admin ends Trump-era rule expediting removal of some migrants

March 18, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is discontinuing a policy expanded under former President Donald Trump that called for the expedited removal of some migrants who were already in the United States. DHS said in a statement to Newsweek that the agency "conducted a thorough review of the July 2019 expedited removal designation," and that recession "was consistent with the Department's need to prioritize its limited enforcement resources ... by utilizing expedited removal as a border enforcement tool for certain recent entrants." The document to be published Monday in the Federal Registry comes as hundreds of thousands of migrants continue to try to cross the border every month. The expanded program allowed for the expedited removal of any noncitizen who was encountered anywhere in the country. Democrats and immigration advocacy groups have been calling on President Joe Biden to completely rescind Title 42, and intelligence officials have said doing so would cause a … [Read more...] about Biden Admin ends Trump-era rule expediting removal of some migrants
